Lynx vs Dream Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Scimia's prediction: The Lynx starters have some redeeming to do, and with Napheesa Collier expected to return tonight, the Dream could have a tough time holding them back.

Two of the top teams in the WNBA will face off on Thursday night as the Atlanta Dream host the Minnesota Lynx at Gateway Center Arena.

Minnesota has been the class of the league this year, and I’m taking it to cover again tonight in my Lynx vs. Dream predictions.

Let’s take a deeper dive into tonight’s matchup with my free WNBA picks for Thursday, August 21.

Lynx vs Dream predictions

My Lynx vs Dream best betLynx -2.5 (-105 at bet365)

The Minnesota Lynx might feel as though they’re getting a break after having to face the defending champion New York Liberty in each of their last three games.

But things aren’t getting any easier tonight, with the Atlanta Dream battling New York for the second seed in the playoffs.

Still, nobody has been nearly as good as Minnesota this season. The Lynx have a +10.6 point differential, more than four points per game better than any other team.

They lead the WNBA in both offensive and defensive rating. And they aren’t slowing down, having won 10 of their last 12 games.

The Dream are having an excellent season themselves, and have won seven of their last nine. They also hold a win over Minnesota in their last meeting on July 27.

But prior to that, the Lynx had won the last six meetings between these two teams, covering in five of them.

The Lynx had a poor outing in their third consecutive game against the Liberty, with their starters failing to perform.

That’s a rare blip for Minnesota, and I expect coach Cheryl Reeve to have her team ready to play tonight. I’m taking the Lynx to cover.

Lynx vs Dream same-game parlay (SGP)

Lynx -2.5

Under 161

Napheesa Collier Over 18.5 points

To go along with my pick on the Lynx tonight, I’ll also take the Under.

The Under has gone 3-0-1 in Minnesota’s last four games, while Atlanta has hit the Under six straight times.

I’m also going to take Naphessa Collier (23.5 ppg) to come in Over her scoring total of 18.5 points, something she has done in five of her last six games.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
