They may be two of the top teams in the WNBA, but both the New York Liberty and Atlanta Dream could really use a victory Sunday.

Our Liberty vs. Dream predictions and WNBA picks have New York getting right against an opponent it's dominated in recent matchups.

Liberty vs Dream predictions

My Liberty vs Dream best bet: Liberty -1 (-112 at DraftKings)

Since starting out 9-0, the New York Liberty have crashed back to earth, with the defending champs winning just two of their next six. Last time out, they were crushed 106-91 in Phoenix — that’s the highest point total the Liberty have surrendered this season.

During this slide, New York has surrendered 90.8 points in the last six games, which ranks dead last in the W. This includes Bottom-4 figures in both field goal and 3-point shooting. Perhaps, then, a sigh of relief for New York when they saw the Atlanta Dream on tap for Saturday.

The Dream sit one spot behind the Liberty for third in the WNBA landscape and are just 3.5 games back of the Lynx. Atlanta is coming off of back-to-back losses, though, first losing in Dallas before returning home to drop an OT decision to the Lynx.

The Dream already faced the Liberty once, and ran out of steam, dropping an 86-81 decision on June 17, but this won’t be the full New York roster on Sunday, as Jonquel Jones (ankle) and Leonie Fiebich have already been ruled out.

That being said, New York has won three in a row over Atlanta and eight of the last 10 overall in this head-to-head — covering this tiny spread in each of the wins.

Liberty vs Dream same-game parlay (SGP)

Liberty -1

Rhyne Howard Under 17.5 points

Sabrina Ionescu Over 17.5 points

Rhyne Howard is coming off a 15-point effort against the Lynx and has what appears to be a decent 17.5-point scoring line for Friday. She’s actually eclipsed it twice in the previous three games, but she’s gone Under the total in four of the last six.

One of those was against the same Liberty, who limited her to 13 points on a rough 3-for-14 shooting, including a 2-for-7 mark from downtown. Howard is only shooting 34.5% from the field this season.

New York might be the opponent Sabrina Ionescu needs to snap out of a recent scoring funk that’s seen her go Under her scoring line of 17.5 on Sunday.

She was held to nine points in the loss to Phoenix on a rough 2-for-9 shooting night. In fact, over the last three games, Ionescu is shooting 6-for-36 from the field, a rough 16.7% mark.
