The Chicago Sky will look to sweep a two-game series at home as they host the Portland Fire for the second time this week on Friday night.

Chicago has dominated the first two meetings between these teams this year, and I’m picking it to win again in my Fire vs. Sky predictions.

Read on to see my full analysis of tonight’s matchup in my free WNBA picks for Friday, June 26.

Fire vs Sky prediction

Fire vs Sky best bet: Sky -4.5 (-110)

The Chicago Sky already have two wins over the Portland Fire this year, winning by 15 points in May and 23 points on Wednesday.

The Chicago defense – which has posted a solid 106.5 defensive rating – has stymied a Portland team that averages only 82.0 ppg and commits 15.6 turnovers per game.

The Sky have killed Portland with depth, as seven players scored in double figures in Wednesday’s win, while six did so in their first win over the Fire.

I expect more of the same tonight, and I’d take Chicago to cover, giving up to 6.5 points.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Sky have held opponents to a 48.4% effective field goal percentage, which will further limit a Fire offense that averages only 99.9 points per 100 possessions, the fourth-lowest rate in the WNBA.

Fire vs Sky same-game parlay

The Sky and Fire have easily hit the Over in each of their first two meetings, with both games going to totals of 179 points or more. Chicago ranks in the top three in most pace metrics and will keep this game moving towards the Over.

I also like Chicago guard Sydney Taylor to hit Over 1.5 threes tonight. Taylor has gotten to that mark in four of her last five games, including hitting two shots from deep against the Fire on Wednesday.

Portland allows opponents to shoot threes at a 33.7% rate, a higher-than-average figure that will allow Taylor to fire away again in Friday’s rematch.

Fire vs Sky SGP

  • Sky -4.5
  • Over 173.5
  • Sydney Taylor Over 1.5 made threes

Fire vs Sky player prop pick

Kamilla Cardoso Over 24.5 points + rebounds + assists (-130)

Sky center Kamila Cardoso is averaging 24.2 PRA for the season, and has put up a combined total of 30+ PRA in two of her last three games. She was also hyper-efficient in Wednesday’s game against the Fire. While she only scored 13 points, she did so on 6-for-7 shooting.

She put up even bigger numbers in her first meeting with Portland earlier this year, when she put up 22 points and 14 rebounds in the Sky’s first game of the season.

Against a Fire team that allows 88.8 points per game and has the worst rebounding rate in the WNBA at 45.8%, I expect big numbers out of Cardoso tonight.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
