Both the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky may be without their biggest young stars when the two teams face off in a Sunday afternoon WNBA showdown.

Indiana has dominated this matchup this year, and I’m taking it to cover a large spread again in my Fever vs. Sky predictions. Let’s take a closer look at today’s matchup in my free WNBA picks for Sunday, July 27.

Fever vs Sky predictions

My Fever vs Sky best bet: Fever -9 (-108 at FanDuel)

Caitlin Clark has missed three full games for the Indiana Fever since going down with a groin injury earlier this month. And while that put Indiana in a tough spot in back-to-back losses to the Liberty, the Fever still had more than enough to handle the Aces on Thursday.

That should be the case again on Sunday, as Indiana takes on a Chicago Sky team that has lost four straight games by double digits. Despite getting at least 10.5 points in each of those matchups, Chicago is also 0-4 against the spread during that stretch.

That doesn’t bode well heading into Chicago’s third battle with Indiana this year. So far, the Fever have picked up wins by 35 and 27 points.

Clark was only available for Indiana in one of those two games, meaning the Fever have already shown they can dominate the Sky without her. Chicago may also be without leading WNBA rebounder Angel Reese, who's questionable for Sunday with a back issue.

I’d like the Fever with Reese in the lineup. Since there’s a chance she doesn’t play or is physically limited, I’m taking Indiana and laying the points this afternoon.

Will Caitlin Clark play?

No, Caitlin Clark is out tonight with a groin injury.

Fever vs Sky same-game parlay (SGP)

Fever -9

Under 158

Kelsey Mitchell Over 20.5 points

Without Clark in the lineup, the Fever aren’t quite as dynamic offensively, even if they still have more than enough to handle the Sky. That’s why I’m taking the Under on today’s game, as both matchups between these teams this season have come in well below this total.

I’ll also take Kelsey Mitchell to hit her personal Over at 20.5 points, as she has scored 20+ points in five of her last six appearances.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
