The Indiana Fever will look to bounce back from a loss at the start of their road trip as they visit the Portland Fire on Saturday night.

Indiana and Portland played a lower-scoring game than expected last time they met, and I’m predicting they’ll hit another Under in my Fever vs. Fire predictions below.

Keep reading to learn why I like the Under and get my favorite Caitlin Clark bet for tonight in my free WNBA picks for Saturday, May 30.

Fever vs Fire prediction

Fever vs Fire best bet:  Under 174.5 (-110)

Both teams avoid getting beaten at the three-point line, each allowing opponents to shoot about 32% from beyond the arc. The Indiana Fever also chases teams off the perimeter, holding their opposition to a league-best 25.2% rate of shooting threes.

That showed in the first matchup between these teams, when they shot a combined 12-for-44 from deep. The Fever weren’t able to carry the total on their own, while the Portland Fire simply aren’t a good offensive team, averaging 81.8 ppg.

This 174.5 total is far too high, and I’m taking the Under as long as it stays above 170.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Fire have a steal rate of 9.0%, which ranks third in the WNBA. Their eight steals helped keep the Indiana offense from running up the score in their first meeting.

Fever vs Fire same-game parlay

While I like the Under tonight, there are signs that Indiana’s stars should be able to put up big numbers against the expansion Fire. I’ll discuss why I love Clark to hit her assists total below, but Aliyah Boston might be an even better bet on the boards.

Portland is the single worst rebounding team in the WNBA with a 46.9% rebounding rate. Boston got off to a slow start on the boards, but has averaged 10.0 rebounds in her last three games, and should have a field day against Luisa Geiselsoder, Megan Gustafson, and anyone else the Fire throw at her in the paint.

Fever vs Fire SGP

  • Under 174.5
  • Caitlin Clark Over 8.5 assists
  • Aliyah Boston Over 8.5 rebounds

Caitlin Clark pick: Over 8.5 assists (-150 at bet365)

Caitlin Clark has the Fever offense humming, as they lead the WNBA in scoring at 92.9 ppg. But while Clark is scoring more than ever, it’s her 8.5 assists per game that have powered the Fever, as she’s the key reason Indiana ranks third in the WNBA with a 69.3% assist rate.

The Portland Fire’s 107.1 defensive rating shows how poorly they’ll fare against Indiana on a per-possession basis. Clark has compiled at least 9 assists in four of her past five games, and I’m confident that she’ll hit that total again tonight.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
