Deiveson Figueiredo is a little too long in the tooth to withstand Song Yadong at UFC Fight Night Macau.

A pair of top 10-ranked UFC bantamweights collide on Saturday, May 30, when highly regarded Chinese contender Song Yadong throws down with former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the main event of UFC Fight Night Macau.

Song holds advantages in almost every major category in this fight, but most notably, he is 10 years younger than Figueiredo, who has been steadily declining over the past few years.

Fighting in front of a home crowd won’t hurt either, and oddsmakers agree, placing Yadong firmly as a -600 favorite according to current UFC odds

My Song vs. Figueiredo predictions and free betting picks are siding with the Chinese fighter to score an emphatic victory, much to the delight of the live crowd.

Song Yadong is the clear A-side in this matchup, being given a very manageable tune-up fight to help get him back on track. The UFC has a large interest in the Asian market, and Song is a credible fringe contender who is bigger, faster, and stronger than his Brazilian counterpart.

If Deiveson Figueiredo tries to strike for five rounds, he will get drowned by Yadong’s superior output. If he tries to wrestle, he will overexert himself and gas out short of the 25-minute time limit.

Song stuffed all of former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo’s takedown attempts and had competitive striking affairs with Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan, all within the last three fights. This will be a welcome drop in class for him that he will capitalize on.

Song has many impressive skills, but hasn’t historically been the biggest finisher. His last four fights have all gone to decision, and the last time he scored a finish victory was three years ago when he stopped Ricky Simon in the fifth round.

Figueiredo looks like he’s starting to approach the end of his illustrious career, and 25 minutes is a long time to be in the cage, but he’s still managed to go to decision in four of his last five fights, the only one ending inside the distance coming when he injured his knee mid-fight and was forced to stop.

Figueiredo managed to go five full rounds with current champ Petr Yan just a couple of years ago, and if he shows that kind of toughness here, he’ll survive long enough to lose a decision, which will help us cash this ticket.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Song has never been submitted in 32 professional fights. Figueiredo hasn’t knocked out an opponent in over six years.
