Perfecting her grass-court game on the fly, Iga Swiatek has emerged as an unlikely finalist at this year’s Wimbledon.

Although Amanda Anisimova is coming off an upset win over World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, I expect Swiatek to prevail in the Wimbledon odds and capture her sixth career Grand Slam title.

Let’s break it all down in my Anisimova vs. Swiatek predictions and free betting picks for Saturday, July 12.

Swiatek vs Anisimova prediction and best bet

Match analysis

This will be the first meeting ever between these two, something that’s unsurprising given Amanda Ansisimova has taken plenty of time off in the last two seasons.

When they do step on the court, the big serve and big baseline game of Anisimova will be put to the ultimate test against the world’s greatest returner.

Grass isn’t a natural surface for a player with a heavy topspin forehand like Swiatek, but that hasn’t seemed to make too much of a difference.

She’s continued to find lines and use her excellent defense to extend points, and with a much-improved serve over the last two weeks, Swiatek has become just as unsolvable as she’s been on clay.

The 24-year-old is now 18-3 on grass since the start of 2023, and an all-or-nothing player like Anisimova will have to be nearly perfect to keep up with the Polish star.

Anisimova has also been somewhat erratic in the last few matches and was gifted plenty of errors from Sabalenka — something that won’t be true on Saturday.

I'm rolling with Swiatek as a surprisingly short favorite.

Best best analysis

This matchup reminds me a lot of the Jelena Ostapenko matchup for Swiatek, which is one she’s never come out on the winning end of, but there are a few key differences.

Anisimova lacks the precision we see from Ostapenko when she redlines, and she also lacks the confidence of the Latvian.

The 23-year-old American has squandered several leads at these championships, failing to close out matches in straight sets in both the third and fourth rounds, and repeatedly struggling to serve out sets.

She blew plenty of chances against Sabalenka, and as we noted above, this won’t be sustainable against an accomplished player like Swiatek. The Pole just came up against a big-time server in Belinda Bencic, only to break with ease and hold her opponent to two games won.

Swiatek has now faced four power players in succession, only sweating out one set against Ludmilla Samsonova, and that should have her more than ready for this occasion.

With the experience in Grand Slam finals, growing experience on grass, and excellent return skills, I don’t see an easy way into this match for Anisimova.
