Andrei Svechnikov Points Props • Carolina

Amerant Bank Arena
Before Game 2, Seth Jarvis had been on a five-game point streak, but he was held off the scoresheet and wasn't even able to record a shot on goal. That said, in Game 1 he was one of the better players for the Carolina Hurricanes up front, and in Game 3 there will be no excuses. Jarvis currently leads the team with 12 points in 12 games, but has scored four goals throughout the playoffs. Jarvis hasn't found the back of the net in this series yet, and he needs to make his mark tonight.
Is there a single player that has stepped up more in the past three years, come playoff time, than Carter Verhaeghe? Verhaeghe is tied for the team lead in points right now with 13 in 14 games played, and he has been consistent. That said, in his last five games, he only has one goal, which was the opening goal of this series, but in the playoffs, he has found the back of the net five times. Verhaeghe is dangerous, and with how good his line has been, he should be able to find some twine tonight for the Florida Panthers.
Anton Lundell has been quiet on the scoresheet in the first two games of this series, but he has been loud through the entire playoffs to this point. Much like Verhaeghe's line, Lundell's line has been the true difference maker for this Florida Panthers team and it's success. Lundell plays alongside Brad Marchand and Eetu Luostarinen, and all three of them have double digits in points already in this postseason. Lundell has established himself as one of the best forwards on this Panthers team, to the point where they even call him "Baby Barkov", which is quite the compliment. You know his line will generate chances tonight, perhaps he can put one of those chances in the back of the net.

The Carolina Hurricanes have been here before. Their past two trips to the Eastern Conference finals have seen them fall behind 2-0 in the series and ended with the Hurricanes coming up on the wrong side of a sweep.
This time, they'll be looking to change the story as the best-of-seven series shifts to Sunrise, Fla., for Game 3 on Saturday.
Carolina looked nothing like the dominant shot-volume team it's known to be in a 5-0 loss to the Panthers in Game 2. The team was stuck on just seven shots on goal and 28 total attempts after two periods.
It led fans to started chanting "Shoot the puck" late in the second period.
"That's just not our game," forward Taylor Hall said. "That's just not how we play."
The Hurricanes led the Eastern Conference and were second in the NHL in the regular season with an average of 31.7 shots on goal per game. They ranked first with 4,608 shot attempts for, 360 more than second place.
They've struggled to convert on chances they have had in the series. In the opener, a 5-2 loss in which they outshot Florida 33-20, they didn't score their second goal until less than four minutes remained in the contest.
"It's not easy. We have a long road ahead of us, but there's no quit in this team," captain Jordan Staal said. "There's been plenty of games (all season) where we've been out of it but clawed ourselves back. A series is no different. It just takes one."
Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour announced Saturday that goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov will get the start for Game 3 in place of Frederik Andersen, who has allowed nine goals on 36 shots.
Kochetkov, 25, is 1-0-0 with a 2.57 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in three appearances in the playoffs. He posted a 27-16-3 record in 47 games in the regular season (all starts) with a 2.60 GAA and .898 save percentage.
The Panthers return home with a chance to push the Hurricanes to the brink for the second time since 2023. Florida also was the lower seed two years ago when it grabbed a 2-0 series lead in the conference final against Carolina before completing the sweep.
That was the first season the Panthers had Matthew Tkachuk on their roster, and the forward has been a key addition to the group, which fell in the Stanley Cup Final that spring before winning the cup last year.
"I think you try to learn something from every series," center Anton Lundell said. "Going back a couple of years ago, after a tough (Stanley Cup) final we had that hunger for last season. And just from last season, I feel like we learned a lot as a group. ... It's a different journey this year, but at the same time, we guys who were last year, we have that in mind, and we know what it takes."
Tkachuk is known for his offensive skill, physicality, ability to agitate the opposition and gift for coming up clutch in big games. He's notched 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 14 games, one of six Florida players with at least 12 so far.
"He always plays well," Florida captain Aleksander Barkov said. "He's one-of-a-kind player and we're lucky to have him on our side. He does it all for us. He's huge for us."
While they're glad to have Tkachuk, the Panthers won't have Sam Reinhart on Saturday night.
"Sam won't play tonight," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said on Saturday morning. "We'll list him as day-to-day."
Jesper Boqvist will take the place of Reinhart, who sustained a lower-body injury following an open-ice hit from Carolina forward Sebastian Aho during the first period of Thursday's game. Aho hit Reinhart near the left knee, resulting in the latter's leg bending awkwardly.
Reinhart returned for one more shift before the first period concluded but did not return for the start of the second.
