While the New York Liberty return a strong core and added Satou Sabally, they’ll be without Sabrina Ionescu due to injury. With Brittney Griner (11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in preseason play) and an improved Hailey Van Lith (12.5 points and 4.5 assists in preseason) in the mix, expect the Sun’s revamped lineup to keep this game closer than the spread suggests.
The logic for big production from Jonquel Jones is similar to the case for Stewart. Connecticut’s Brittney Griner can’t be in two places at once defensively, and Jones should walk into some easy rebounds in this one. JJ began the 2025 season with 10+ boards in five of her first six outings, and the Liberty will need their veteran frontcourt to show up in this one to paper over a lengthy injury list.
New York posted a 17-5 mark at Barclays Center last year, and there’s a recipe for more home cooking here against a Sun squad that finished with a 11-33 record in 2025. While tonight’s spread feels a little inflated, the Liberty are 8-2 SU in the last 10 meetings between these teams, and I’m backing their talent edge to get them over the line.
