Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Total Hits Props • Toronto
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has gone over 0.5 in 10 of his last 10 games.
Everyone will remember the power Guerrero Jr. produced against the Yankees but hitting singles was still his bread and butter. He hit six over four games, recording at least one in each. He has nine over his past nine dating back to the regular season and now draws Logan Gilbert, who he's 6-15 against.
Trey Yesavage is a fantastic pitcher but he allowed righties to hit .333 against him over his few regular season starts. Julio Rodriguez hit righties very well and has produced at a much higher clip on the road all season long, which checks out given Seattle plays in a very pitcher-friendly park.
Jorge Polanco is trading at +575 to hit a home run at BetMGM, but that number feels a bit off — it should be closer to +480. That value alone makes this a spot worth taking. Polanco’s confidence is sky-high right now after driving in clutch runs in each of his last two games, and he’s already proven he can handle elite pitching, taking Tarik Skubal deep twice in the ALDS against the Tigers. He matches up well here, too: Polanco handles both the four-seam fastball and the splitter, which are key weapons for Trey Yesavage. Even when the Blue Jays turn to their bullpen, you don’t have to worry much about matchups — as a switch hitter, Polanco can hold his own from either side of the plate.
After recording 11 strikeouts across 5 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Yankees, I think we’re landing a low total on Trey Yesavage in this market tonight. The Mariners have never faced the righty, and they haven’t had the best offensive start to the postseason with a seventh-ranked .277 wOBa and .133 ISO. Additionally, the Mariners have fanned at the third-highest rate (28.0%).
For all their strengths, the Mariners strike out a lot and tend to whiff against splitters most of all. Trey Yesavage's bread and butter is the splitter, so the rookie righty can pick up right where he left off against the Yankees, when he punched out 11 in fewer than six full innings.
