Cristopher Sanchez has surrendered just one earned run over his last four starts, and the Philadelphia left-hander has limited San Diego to a .197 batting average over 66 at-bats. With the Phillies boasting a .934 OPS against Padres starter Nick Pivetta, back the road team to prevail at Petco Park.

There won't be a sweep at PETCO Park this afternoon. The Phillies sport a ninth-ranked .331 wOBA and an average of 4.59 runs per game across the past 30 days, while the Friars sport a 24th-ranked .303 mark with 3.68 per. It’s a similar story with the hitting splits for the year, too. Philly is 12th in wOBA (.322) against right-handed pitchers, while San Diego is 17th (.294) against southpaws.

It’s a similar story with the hitting splits for the year, too. Philly is 12th in wOBA (.322) against right-handed pitchers, while San Diego is 17th (.294) against southpaws. This hitting edge has my attention because runs could be tough to come by in Sunday’s contest with Phillies lefty Cristopher Sanchez and Friars veteran Nick Pivetta heading into the All-Star break in top form. Still, I also think Sanchez’s stretch is more sustainable. His 2.59 ERA and 1.13 WHIP are reinforced by a sterling 2.92 xERA and 2.86 xFIP. On the flip side, Pivetta’s 3.92 xERA and 3.51 xFIP forecast rougher times.
