The San Diego Padres will be looking for the series sweep over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies at PETCO Park on Sunday, July 13.

With both Philly and San Diego sending rolling starters to the hill in a potential pitcher’s duel, my top Phillies vs. Padres predictions and MLB picks expect the Philadelphia lineup to do more damage at the dish to head into the All-Star break in winning fashion.

My Phillies vs Padres best bet: Phillies moneyline (-130 at Caesars)

There won't be a sweep at PETCO Park this afternoon.

The Philadelphia Phillies sport a  ninth-ranked .331 wOBA and an average of 4.59 runs per game across the past 30 days, while the San Diego Padres sport a 24th-ranked .303 mark with 3.68 per.

It’s a similar story with the hitting splits for the year, too. Philly is 12th in wOBA (.322) against right-handed pitchers, while San Diego is 17th (.294) against southpaws.

This hitting edge has my attention because runs could be tough to come by in Sunday’s contest with Phillies lefty Cristopher Sanchez and Friars veteran Nick Pivetta heading into the All-Star break in top form.

Still, I also think Sanchez’s stretch is more sustainable. His 2.59 ERA and 1.13 WHIP and reinforced by a sterling 2.92 xERA and 2.86 xFIP. On the flip side, Pivetta’s 3.92 xERA and 3.51 xFIP forecast rougher times ahead.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Phillies vs Padres same-game parlay (SGP)

Phillies moneyline

Bryce Harper Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Manny Machado Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

It was a tough return to action for Phillies slugger Bryce Harper after missing the bulk of June with a wrist injury. The two-time MVP went 4-for-24 through his first eight games, but has turned the corner with a 6-for-13 run at the dish that includes five extra-base hits, three runs and an RBI.

Of course, Harper also sports a high-end .372 wOBA and .193 ISO against right-handed pitchers for the season, and he’s posted a 1.226 OPS across 16 at-bats against Pivetta.

Turning to the final leg of this same-game parlay, Friars third baseman Manny Machado is dialed in with a respectable 12-for-46 stretch consisting of four runs and nine RBI across his past 12 games.

He’s also a proven hitter against lefties with a .389 wOBA and .315 ISO for the campaign.
