Ronald Acuña, Jr. and Austin Riley have a history of success against Gallen and will be looking to punish him if he falls behind again. As a team, the Braves are hitting .256 against RHP and slugging .400, and their home/away splits favor them to have a strong performance. On the flip side, Spencer Strider looked much more locked in against the Phillies last Tuesday. Although he took the loss for the third time in as many starts, he gave up just one run on one hit through 4 ⅔ IP while striking out seven.
Gallen has allowed 10 home runs already this season through 12 starts. It’s a key reason why he’s given up at least four earned runs in four straight starts, despite not getting through the sixth inning in any of them. The Diamondbacks have won just two of their last 10 games, and another poor start by Gallen will sink them here. Take the Braves to lead after the fifth inning.

Although Austin Riley has gotten off to a slower start from a power standpoint, he’s one of the best home run hitters in the National League. The slugger had three consecutive 30+ home run seasons between 2021 and 2023. When he connects, the baseball goes a long way. Riley has 10 bombs so far while batting .275. The third baseman has two long balls in his last four games, and he’ll like tonight’s matchup. Arizona Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen gets the calls versus Atlanta, and Riley is 6 for 16 against him with a home run. The infielder is hitting .280 against righties with eight bombs compared to .259 with only two homers against left-handed pitchers. Five of his long balls have come at home as well, and he’s batting over .300 at Truist Park.
