San Francisco @ Colorado preview

Coors Field

Last Meeting ( Sep 10, 2012 ) San Francisco 5, Colorado 6

The National League West-leading San Francisco Giants attempt to snap out of their current funk when they take on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Tuesday. San Francisco saw its division lead over idle Los Angeles shrink to five games with Monday's 6-5 loss. The Giants, who have lost four of six, staged a comeback as Buster Posey belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning and Angel Pagan delivered an RBI double in the eighth to get San Francisco within a run.

Colorado had just returned from a 1-6 road trip that ended with the Rockies being swept of a doubleheader at Philadelphia on Sunday. The Rockies lost Ramon Hernandez in Monday's triumph as the catcher suffered a strained left hamstring in the fourth inning. Colorado goes right back on the road following this series as it heads to San Diego for three games before visiting the Giants for four contests.

TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, CS Bay Area (San Francisco), Root Sports (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (14-10, 3.15 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Jhoulys Chacin (2-5, 4.50)

Bumgarner's losing streak reached three games with a setback against Arizona on Wednesday in which he allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old has surrendered a total of 13 runs in his last three starts after eight outings in which he yielded three runs or less. Bumgarner improved to 4-3 lifetime against the Rockies on Aug. 4, when he gave up one run in six innings.

Chacin has allowed only one run in each of his last four starts but has a 2-2 record during that stretch. The 24-year-old Venezuelan yielded only an unearned run in 3 1/3 innings at Atlanta on Thursday but took the loss. Chacin fell to 3-4 lifetime against San Francisco as he surrendered four runs over four frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Monday's victory was only Colorado's second in seven home meetings with San Francisco this year.

2. Rockies C Wilin Rosario has been charged with 19 passed balls this season, including five over his last two starts.

3. Giants RHP Clay Hensley is expected to be activated from the disabled list. Hensley has been sidelined since Aug. 27 because of a strained right groin.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
