Last Meeting ( Sep 4, 2012 ) Milwaukee 8, Miami 4

Ryan Braun is two RBIs shy of his fifth consecutive 100-RBI campaign as the Milwaukee Brewers face the Miami Marlins in Wednesday’s third contest of the four-game set. Braun drove in two runs in Milwaukee’s win on Tuesday to increase his National League-leading total to 98. The reigning MVP’s career high for RBIs is 114 set in 2009. The Brewers have won 12 of 15 games while Miami has lost eight of its last 11.

Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit his 30th homer on Tuesday to make it two straight 30-homer campaigns. His season output is impressive when you factor in he missed 30 games after undergoing knee surgery in July. It is just the 17th time in Marlins’ history that a player has reached the 30-homer mark. Norichika Aoki homered and had three RBIs and is swinging a hot bat for the Brewers. Aoki is batting .419 (13-for-31) during an eight-game hitting streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Wily Peralta (0-0, 9.00 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Nathan Eovaldi (4-10, 4.48)

Peralta was recalled from Triple-A Nashville and is making his first major-league start. He has pitched one inning in the majors and that was back on April 22 against the Colorado Rockies. Peralta was 7-11 with a 4.66 ERA in 28 starts for Nashville.

Eovaldi is making his eighth start since the Marlins acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Hanley Ramirez deal. He is 3-4 with a 5.03 ERA for Miami. Eovaldi lost to the New York Mets in his last outing when he gave up three runs and four hits in seven innings. He is 0-2 with a 2.77 ERA in two career starts against Milwaukee.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Brewers lead the NL with 170 homers, the fourth-best total in the majors.

2. Marlins 1B Carlos Lee has gone hitless in five of his last six games.

3. Milwaukee 2B Rickie Weeks had two hits Tuesday and is 13-for-26 (.500) during a six-game hitting streak.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
