Los Angeles @ Colorado preview

Coors Field

Last Meeting ( Aug 27, 2012 ) LA Dodgers 0, Colorado 10

The new-look Los Angeles Dodgers attempt to turn things around as they meet the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday in the middle game of their three-game series at Coors Field. Los Angeles' 10-0 loss in Monday's series opener was the club's fifth setback in seven contests and second in three games since completing a nine-player blockbuster trade with Boston on Saturday. Right-hander Josh Beckett, one of four players acquired from the Red Sox, took the loss in his Dodgers debut as he allowed three runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Los Angeles, which recorded only four hits, dropped 2 1/2 games behind both first-place San Francisco in the National League West and St. Louis for the second wild-card spot. Colorado has been on a tear of late, winning six of eight at home and seven of nine overall. Rookie Wilin Rosario enters with 21 home runs, a franchise record for a catcher. Rosario belted a two-run shot Monday to eclipse the previous club mark for a backstop set in 2003 by Charles Johnson.

TV: 8:40 p.m. ET, KCAL (Los Angeles), Root Sports (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Chris Capuano (11-9, 3.37 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Tyler Chatwood (3-3, 4.98)

Capuano lasted only five innings in a loss to San Francisco on Wednesday, surrendering six runs and six hits. The 34-year-old has lost seven of his last nine decisions and is 2-5 in nine starts since the All-Star break. Capuano fell to 5-7 lifetime against the Rockies despite allowing only two runs over seven frames Aug. 6.

Chatwood did not allow a run against the Mets in New York on Thursday but was pulled after throwing 65 pitches in three innings. The 22-year-old has worked five or more innings only twice in his five starts but has given up more than one earned run only once. Chatwood is 1-1 against the Dodgers in two career starts, both while with the Los Angeles Angels last season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Colorado rookie INF Josh Rutledge is 5-for-8 with five RBIs as a pinch hitter.

2. Three of Los Angeles' four hits on Monday were for extra bases.

3. Rockies OF Dexter Fowler has been limited to three pinch-hitting appearances over the last five games because of an ankle injury.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
