Tampa Bay @ Texas preview

Choctaw Stadium

Last Meeting ( Aug 27, 2012 ) Tampa Bay 5, Texas 6

Adrian Beltre’s hot hitting didn’t end after being named American League Player of the Week and the visiting Tampa Bay Rays will try to silence the Texas Rangers’ third baseman in Tuesday’s second contest of a three-game series. Beltre went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs as Texas won the opener and has six homers and 13 RBIs over the last eight games. Tampa Bay has lost three straight games to fall out of the two wild card spots.

The Rays are struggling in close games, losing nine of their last 10 one-run contests. Tampa Bay has won only six of its last 24 one-run affairs after going 12-4 to start the campaign. Texas has won five of six games and has a 5 1/2-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West. Yu Darvish starts for the Rangers after being scratched from his last start because of a quadriceps injury. Rangers star Josh Hamilton is 3-for-19 against Rays starter James Shields, but two of the hits are homers.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
