Milwaukee @ Colorado preview

Coors Field

Last Meeting ( Aug 13, 2012 ) Milwaukee 6, Colorado 9

The Colorado Rockies returned to Coors Field to start a seven-game homestand Monday and, predictably, their offense came to life. Colorado will also try to continue its dominance over Milwaukee when it hosts the Brewers on Tuesday in the second of a three-game series. The Rockies, who lead the major leagues with 5.8 runs per game at home, scored 21 during their 3-3 road trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco before exploding for a 9-6 victory Monday. Brewers rookie Mike Fiers found out how difficult it can be to pitch at Coors Field. Fiers, who entered the game with a 1.80 ERA and hadn't allowed more than two runs in nine straight starts, was clobbered for eight runs and nine hits in two-plus innings.

Despite their hitting prowess at Coors Field, the Rockies are a major league-worst 22-37 at home. The Brewers, who have lost 12 of their last 13 road games, are 5-16 in their last 21 contests at Coors Field. Milwaukee's Randy Wolf is 1-6 with 11 no-decisions in his last 18 starts and the Brewers are 5-13 in those games. He will face Colorado's Tyler Chatwood, who pitched five shutout innings in San Francisco on Friday to earn his first victory of the season as a starter.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers LH Randy Wolf (3-8, 5.46 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Tyler Chatwood (2-2, 5.06)

Wolf allowed two runs and six hits in six innings in Milwaukee's 3-2 victory over Cincinnati on Wednesday for his third quality start in his last five outings. He yielded nine runs and 18 hits in his previous two starts - both losses. Wolf is 7-3 with a 3.73 ERA in 16 starts against the Rockies, including 2-2, 4.04 in seven starts at Coors Field. Projected Rockies' starters are 12-for-46 with five RBIs against Wolf.

Chatwood has split his first two starts of the season since joining Colorado's four-man rotation. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out in the Rockies' 3-0 victory over the Giants. In his previous start, he allowed three runs (one earned), two hits, walked four and struck out one in 3 1/3 innings in an 8-3 loss to San Francisco on Aug. 5. Chatwood, who was 6-11 with a 4.75 ERA in 27 games (25 starts) with the Los Angeles Angels as a rookie in 2011, has never faced Milwaukee or any of its active players.

WALK-OFFS

1. Colorado INF DJ LeMahieu had a career-high four hits Monday and is 11-for-17 in his last five games, including his first major league homer Saturday in San Francisco.

2. Milwaukee RHP Mark Rogers on Monday was in Phoenix with his wife Kerrie, who is pregnant with the couple's first child. Rogers is scheduled to start Wednesday.

3. Colorado rookie C Wilin Rosario allowed his club-record 14th passed ball Monday. ... The Rockies lead the majors with 66 wild pitches, 13 more than the Chicago White Sox.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
