Philadelphia @ Colorado preview

Coors Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 13, 2012 ) Philadelphia 2, Colorado 6

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to plummet in the standings. The five-time reigning National League East champions fell for the fifth straight time and 11th in 12 outings after dropping a 6-2 decision to the Colorado Rockies on Friday. Philadelphia, which sits 15 games behind division-leading Washington, will try stop the bleeding on Saturday when it sends Vance Worley to the mound.

Josh Rutledge made his major-league debut a memorable one with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. Rutledge was recalled from Double-A Tulsa as part of a number of moves which included the Rockies placing veteran first baseman Todd Helton on the 15-day disabled list with a hip injury. Michael Cuddyer, who replaced Helton, added a run-scoring triple in the seventh to break the game open.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Vance Worley (4-5, 3.54 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Jeremy Guthrie (3-8, 6.05)

Aside from one start, Worley has pitched relatively well since returning from the disabled list June 4. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, he is just 1-3 with three no-decisions to show for it. Worley fell to Colorado on June 21 despite yielding just two runs on four hits in seven innings.

Guthrie has also pitched well despite failing to notch a victory since May 31. The 33-year-old tossed three scoreless innings and struck out two in a no-decision versus Philadelphia on June 20. Guthrie permitted two runs on six hits in as many innings in his last trip to the mound Sunday against Washington.

WALK-OFFS

1. Philadelphia ace Roy Halladay reported no issues following a start for Class A Clearwater on Thursday. Halladay, who has been sidelined with a right latissimus dorsi strain, looks to start as soon as Tuesday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.

2. Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez snapped an 0-for-8 skid which featured five strikeouts by collecting three hits on Friday. Gonzalez is 0-for-3 in his career versus Worley.

3. Jimmy Rollins recorded his 408th career double on Friday - tying him for second in Phillies' history with Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt. Ed Delahanty is first on the list with 442.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
