The Premier League is back, and the weekend gets underway with Leeds and West Ham meeting under the floodlights of Elland Road. Both teams are in a relegation battle and will be desperate to pick up points that could be vital to their survival in the Premier League.

West Ham have been terrible this season, but with Nuno Espirito Santo in the dugout, they’re bound to improve defensively, which is why our Leeds vs West Ham predictions are expecting this tight, cagey game to finish with Under 2.5 goals.

Premier League predictions for Leeds vs West Ham

My Leeds vs West Ham best bet: Under 2.5 (-128 at Sports Interaction)

This really feels like a “can’t lose” game with both teams in serious danger of relegation this season. Leeds are three points clear of the drop, while West Ham sit 19th in the table with just one win all season.

One of the big issues for both teams has been goals, with neither team averaging a goal per game. Leeds have scored just seven goals in eight games, while West Ham have scored six, tied for the second fewest in the entire league. Leeds failed to score in their last game, a 2-0 defeat to Burnley, while the Hammers have scored just once in Nuno Espirito Santo’s three games as manager.

We’re yet to see Espirito Santo get a win, but while his team has lost two of three games, they do look slightly more organized at the back, albeit at the expense of a goal threat. Both teams are in the bottom 10 in terms of xG (expected goals), while Leeds are surprisingly fourth in terms of xGA (expected goals against), and they’ve let in 13 goals compared with the 8.68 that xGA suggests that they should have.

With West Ham struggling for goals but tightening up at the back, and Leeds’ defensive record worse than xGA suggests that it should be, we could be set for a low-scoring game at Elland Road. With everything that is on the line in terms of Premier League survival, this is likely to be tight and cagey, which would fit with the game being a low-scoring one.

Leeds vs West Ham same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5

Draw

Anton Stach to be booked

With Leeds desperate to take any point possible and Espirito Santo looking to steel up the West Ham defense, this game is likely to finish level.

The final leg of this Same-Game Parlay is for Anton Stach to get shown a card. The German has been a bright spark for Leeds this season, but despite picking up just one card in eight games, he’s been consistently committing fouls, leading the Leeds team with 13. His average of 1.72 fouls per 90 minutes played is high, and he’s surely going to see some of those fouls turned into bookings soon.
