My daughter graduated H.S. and we had a party for her. Lots of work all week, finally happened in the afternoon on Saturday. Lots of fun. Later that night we went to 3 classmates of her who had a party for all, in one.
I live in a small community. People have a hard time sending their kids to college. Usually, the student with the highest gpa snags all the scholarships. Except in my little hamlet. The gentleman who established this scholarship left his entire estate, as a scholarship trust for students of our small village.
The student who received the $6000 top scholarship this year, wasn't the valedictorian or salutatorian. He was the student who needed the scholarship the most to continue his education. That student was my daughter's boyfriend. He is a great kid. He ran for 350 yards in a single football game. He is on the national Honor Society. He is always polite, whether he knows you or not.
It just goes to show, a good life isn't always about your life, but the lives that you touch. This donor was thinking about the future, even with the blinds closing on his own life.
