Jakas's Crunchy NCAA Plays Week 5

Question

This thread will run as a single thread in three parts. Part 1: Last Week recap with early leans, Part 2: Early Plays on line movement, Part 3: Saturday plays with write ups.On recap 2 scores will be posted what i predicted. All parts will be ran on same thread, so you will have to go to last page for Saturdays plays...

You will notice i rarely play the marquee match ups due to the star power and media hype with variables. I think Dr. Lou is a complete moron (his record on ESPN past two years is more like 22-38, not what ESPN posts...I count and keep track.)

All unit plays are for 1K, also run a baseball thread under same title...All thoughts are welcome in thread and encouraged if well thought out...Love to see some feedback and posts...Good Luck to everyone on having a good season.

Pt. 1 Early Leans:UTEP &#x2B;17.5: Houston 1-4 at UTEP and lousy on the road...just ask LTToldeo &#x2B;7: Temple coming off a good win against an overrated MD team...Toledo just scrappy enough to keep in the game..Miss St. &#x2B;7: UGA O struggled against Ole Miss...see more to come against Miss St.Nwest &#x2B;7: Persa...Persa...Persa...Might jump early on this as i&#x27;m thinking as sloppy as Illinois is this line will move down...WMU &#x2B;3: Carder and White to notch down a win...No.Ill -10: Gotta love a good O vs. a sloppy DTexas A&amp;M -3: A&amp;M going to pissed blowing it int he second half for second year in a row...maybe they will play the whole game...Ga Tech -12: hopping the NCSU backers bring this down, but GT looking solid with the running game...Baylor -4: K St showed moxy against a mediocre Miami team...Baylor too much to handle...Texas -10: Texas looking to erase last year...here is where they start..ND -13: Think ND finally found a team even they cant give it away to..ASU -17.5: This one could get ugly...

they are really banged up mentally and physically and if they choose to play QB danton rather than Terrance owens this team is gonna get POUNDED by temple

I&#x27;m already on NW, Baylor before lines move against me...Texas i&#x27;m leaning on but really unsure about the D..Iowa St is an odd team to bet for or against with Jantz....No Ill i love thier O, but their D doesn&#x27;t seem to stop anyone even though CM is looking bad on O this year....

Agreed jdn....I&#x27;m leaning this way as a let down game for a good Temple team...see last weeks thread on Toledo, i like them but the the instability unbder center seems to hurt them rather than help...They need to decide on what their identity is on O and either pass it (Owens) or run/option (Dautin) it for moving the ball better...Still a good Toledo team with good OL...

Plays this weekend...a little late for UTEP...NW &#x2B;7 (1U): It was announced that Persa will start and play this Saturday...NW comes in after an ugly performance against army and half of the DL was missing for that game. NW has a big ole boy OL with 4 returning starters and experience against a faster speedy Illinois D...While Ill can control the edge, NW can control the trenches and since NW doesn&#x27;t live on the edge i say they have a huge advantage thier. Ill has some problems on O...Scheelhasse cant throw it for crap and Ford is not the answer to replace Lashoure...Ill on D has looked good at times this year with a strong secondary and holding WMU and ASU under 21 pts a game..The funny thing is though NW will run the ball to vitory 150&#x2B; on the ground...NW wins outright 24 - 17Baylor -4: (2U): Its official i have sold out to the RG3 bandwagon...having seeing them in action for three weeks this guy is good with some great tall receivers and a good OL to boot...Before everyone buys into ESPN&#x27;s crap on Kansas St. take note to this: K St. has replaced thier QB, RB and top 2 WR with only 2 OL with any experience. This is a team that squeaked by and FCS team, pounded a crappy Kent St. and beat an undermanned and overrated Miami team at home...Not impressive. Baylor wont take the foot off here with RG3 Heisman talks...Baylor 48 K St. 14

Add on Rambling Play:This was last week on GT:GT -6.5 (2U): That should get some haters going....Double my normal bet on Saturday....UNC has new look after scandal and embarrassment LY with an O sporting New QB (Renner), RB, WR and 2 OL. On the plus side UNC does sport one of the biggest OL (320 avg) in the ACC but they come in with Renner in 1st year who has not looked sharp in his reads nor progressions against rebuilding schools in Rutgers and Virginia. UNC comes in losing #3, #4 and #5 tacklers last year and now CB Price is ? for this game as well..That will put 3 (undersized) sophomores with 6 games starting under their belt to stay disciplined on the edges for a triple option attack. Good news for UNC is they have a solid, though small LB corp in Riddick/Brown but will have a newbie in Lipford covering Strong Side LB. UNC boasts size in the trenches but the rest of the team is small and undersized at their potisons...not 1 in the secondary is over 190 nor 5&#x27;10..GT here comes the bandwagon train.... averaging 427 yards a game...I know not against solid schools but only one was FCS...i don&#x27;t care who you play 427 yards a game is a feat. And the Triple option is tough to defend, just ask #2 rush Defense in SC that gave 274 yards and 5.8 a carry to NAVY or look at Army banging out 404 yards against a decent SDSU D and averaging 326 yards a game..GT actually lost key players off the O last year (QB Nesbitt and RB Allen) and actually got better...Smith, Washington and Peeples are faster than last years crew..UNC does hold a slight edge in the trenches but they come in inexperienced and undersized on the edge to play a Triple option...I look for GT to control the edges and get some nice play action against the inexperienced UNC secondary...GT rolls with 300&#x2B; rushing yards and wins 34 - 17

And this is now:GT -10 (5U): The Triple option is tough to defend, just ask #2 rush Defense in SC that gave 274 yards and 5.8 a carry to NAVY or look at Army banging out 404 yards against a decent SDSU D and averaging 326 yards a game..GT actually lost key players off the O last year (QB Nesbitt and RB Allen) and actually got better...Smith, Washington and Peeples are faster than last years crew.And all the UNC backers last week told me that the UNC front 7 is the best in the land and all are going to the NFL...???? don&#x27;t you mean the CFL ?? GT only gained 496 yards with 312 on the ground....NC ST not the same team as last year and come in with a rubber band second string Defense,....NC St can not contain the edge or the trenches but they come in inexperienced and undersized on the edge to play a Triple option...I look for GT to control the edges and get some nice play action against the back up secondary...id most probably take this at -14 or -18...GT too much handle for a beat up NC St...GT rolls again 42 Nc St. 20

No. Illionois -9 (2U): I like this team even without Kill at the helm...This team has great OL depth and all 5 starters from an 11-3 squad last year. Harnish has looked good and the O has been clicking even in their choke against Kansas...CMU on the other hand is a program on its ways down...Both Kelley and Butch Jones bailed out a program they built leaving to an assistant from Mich St. to top it off they hired the DC from SMU...are you kidding me ?? Radcliff has officially ended a great run at CMU of great QB&#x27;s...he is erratic, slow on progressions and cant read a zone def for a lick....No. Ill D is not the greatest on the other side of the ball but then again they do have size against and inexperienced OL of CMU. No. Illinois rolls up on the Chips for the second str8 year 35 - 14UNC -6 (1U): UNC comes in grumpy thanks to ESPN and Dr. Spew blowing their heads up giving them false hope last week against GT. Good news for UNC they have a young over achieving Pirate team that finally won a game..Pirates still trying to figure out who is their RB and get it going and missing Harris (Top WR LY)...Davis is a solid agile QB but makes too many forced throws and tries to much under pressure...Lets see if the &#x27;Best front 7&#x27;  will bring some pain and force some errors on ECU. On the flip side at UNC not great at QB Renner still learning going through some growing pains but i will say Bernard is a hoss and can get some tough yards against D.... Running, a Bigger DL and Quicker, a tall secondary is what gives UNC the advantage here...i wouldn&#x27;t be surprised if UNC runs away with it....UNC 30 ECU 17Tulsa/Noth Texas O59 (1U) : ummm not write up...weather clear both d&#x27;s sux and both teams pass the ball...No worries about Kinne Jr. not playing...Tulsa 42 North Texas 30More to come tomorrow...BOL to everyone...
