Big game between these 2 teams in this one. I do expect Lakers to win their next 2 games and clinch the #2 seed in the West, and I expect Memphis and Portland to play under a similar assumption in this one. 6th spot is on the line here and a chance to avoid LA (most likely) in the first round. Either way, expect a playoff atmosphere in this one.
Both teams are on UNDER streaks coming into this one and the UNDER is 11-3-1 in the last 15 meetings in Portland between these 2 squads. Portland plays at the slowest PACE in the league (#30) while Memphis is at #15. I expect the Blazers to control the pace of hte game on their own home-court tonight. In addition, both these defenses rank #1 and #2 in TOV%. More turnovers, means less shot-attempts. In addition, neither one gets to the line much. Memphis is holding opponents to 87 ppg in their last 5, while Blazers are allowing 93 ppg int he same time span. I expect a slow, methodical pace in this one tonight.
2 team parlay: Lakers ML (-300) / Cardinals +2.5 (-445)
Laying about 1.6 Units to win 1 Unit.
I have a play on St Louis and the write-up is included with it.
The line move in the Lakers game is all I needed to include them in this parlay. I know LA is on a 5-game losing streak, but did any other game on this streak involve a move like that? In addition, at -5.5 Lakers were way OVER-valued (s/b -3 at home). For the line to move from -5.5 to -7, some very SERIOUS money had to come in on an already 'TERRIBLE' line. This tells me that Spurs are going to rest their starters and not really take this one serious. Spurs are similar to the Celtics in the fact that they don't give as much thought to HC way down the road like NBA Finals. They have HC in the West, and that's all they really should worry about. Getting to the Finals will be a monstrous accomplishment for this team, and it all starts with proper rest for their best players going into the playoffs. Lakers, have been taking games off, but now their 'backs are truly against the wall'. I don't think they want to lose this #2 seed to either Dallas, or even worse, Thunder. (I think Okie City would beat Lakers in a 7 game series if they had HC). I expect them to play really well today. After the Lakers win today, they can concede the #2 seed to Dallas tomorrow if they want, but at least Thunder won't get it. (If I was Dallas and Lakers win today, I would lose my game tomorrow, and give up the #3 seed to Okie City..Sure they'd have to get past Denver in round 2, but round 2 matchup with the Spurs would be a lot easier...hmmm). Either way, I really don't see the Lakers losing tonight. (Nor the Cardinals by 3+ runs)
Good luck fellas!

I don't think that statement is true. Dallas was 2-1 vs OKC... they won the head to head series, so they hold the first playoff tie-breaker. feel free to correct me if i am wrong!

first off, the line opened at 6.5 at most places. 5.5 is rare.
am i gathering that the line movement tells you that SA will rest their star players? how do u know that bodio? i am quite curious. if that were the case, then why is Duncan a gametime decision? why wouldnt they just say his is resting if they really didnt care about HC and having the best record? mind games to play with LAL?
more importantly, LAL bench is seriously depleted. SA bench will take LAL bench to the clinic. With LAL bench hurt that means more LAL starters may have to play which is good for LAL backers but then why would LAL choose now to care about regular season when they lost the last 6. they seem not to care who they face in the 1st round.

who needs a win between the spurs and the lakers? its pointless in my opinion. if any of those two really cared they would win much easier games they dropped lately. at this time of the season - only thing they care is keeping close to the chest the tactics lately developed for the playoffs and rest the key players. no motivation on either team, because they just dont give a shit. never did. be careful betting any sides and even more careful basing your assumptions on stats while betting totals. gl

Unfortunately no. The line is way too inflated in that one and I've learned my lesson with the Bucks game last night (or at least I think I did) :) GO BULLS!

Okie City is a division winner and Dallas is not. That's the first tie-breaker

This was Portland's game plan for Lakers and still went under the totals I like Under today.
"Some teams you can't run against," G Andre Miller said. "The Lakers are kind of methodical. They get into a rhythm in the triangle, get the ball to their big men and let Kobe (Bryant) work his way into the game. We found a way to get the tempo our way early. It set the tone."
When he was with Charlotte, "all we did was just run them," said F Gerald Wallace, who came to the Blazers in a Feb. 23 trade. "We make their bigs get out in the open court and run. Attack, attack, attack.
"They have trouble getting up and down the court. If you're running them, their legs get heavy. It forces Kobe and them to do more than they want to do, and they don't get a chance to set up their half-court defense."

Besides the line-movement, I read a bunch of articles this morning from San Antonio newspapers and sports-reporters, discussing the fact that there are signs that Pop will rest key players tonight throughout the game. Yes, Lakers bench is depleted, but that just means the Starters will play more. Lakers did care last game against Okie City, but actually just got beat in that one (can't comment on the previous 4). They were winning in the 4th of that one until Okie City went on a 17-2 run (or something like that). Either way, I think Lakers will step up tonight...
