Stayed away yesterday as I took a royal beating in NCAAF Saturday and just didn't even want to think about football for a day!
Minnesota at Green Bay
After what Aaron Rodgers has been through this summer and pre-season I can't help but think the guy comes out tonight and makes everyone say, "Brett Who"? This kid has to be chomping at the bit to get out on that field in front of all the Favre worshipers and put on a show. It doesn't hurt that he opens the Rodgers era against a Vikings team that gave up 264 yards per game through the air last year. I think that he finds Driver and Jennings often tonight and I think that with a year under his belt Grant only improves upon his 956 yard effort last year. While running on the Vikings proved to be anything but easy last year (74 yards per game), I do think that Rodgers will be able to stretch the field which should open up running lanes for Grant. Defensively, I see the Packers being the Packers. While I don't think that they can inprove on last years NFC 2nd ranked defense allowing only 18 points per game, I do see them giving a solid effort tonight. The key for the Packer defense tonight is to stop the run. I do not think that Hawk will play tonight, so the Pack is going to need a big effort from Barnett in clogging up the running lanes.
The Vikings have a problem. The problem is at the QB position. Childress knows he has a problem and he attempted to do something about it and gave everything he had to try and get Favre. we all know how that went. The bottom line though is that the Vikings would have rather had a "senior citizen" at QB than 3rd year pro T Jack! I would assume that his 58% completion rate and his TD to INT ratio (9 TDs/12 INTs) have alot to do with that! The guy is just not a very good QB. Now, let us not overlook the one dyno on that Viking offense, Adrian Peterson. I will submit however that he did ease off at the end of last year and I do beleive that the length of the season started taking a toll on the young man. The Offensive Rookie of the Year will undoubtably get his yards, but in my opinion he is not ready to carry a team on his back, and especially in Green Bay. Defensively the Vikings are very solid against the run, but struggle against the pass. I do beleive in "karma" and if I was Childress I would instruct Jared Allen to shut his mouth. Entirely too much trash talk about Rodgers coming from that Viking lockerroom IMO.
I think that the Packers welcome in the Rodgers era with a quality win tonight. Again, the key offensively will be Rodgers stretching the field and opening running lanes for Grant. Defensively, if tha Pack can stop, or at leat contain Peterson there is no way in my opinion that Jackson can beat them.

PIDI- you're doing great as usual. I'm on the Packers vs. a Vikings fan at work, so BOL to you for my sake.
You like anything in the late game? I personally lean towards Jay Cutler and the Broncos because their offense should have a little more confidence. Not too convinced all the newcomers mesh well in Oakland as it has been a graveyard for has-beens lately.

Well, in the end I laid off of the Denver/Oakland game and I wish I hadn't! However, I guess it is always best to layoff when you have doubts so in that respect it was the right thing for me to do.
I don't think Rodgers quite got the Pack fans to say "Brett Who?", but there is no doubt he played one heck of a game.
