Just trying to give CD an accurate detail of my time with unions, not trying to bring up Iraq like john goodman's character on the big lebowski. I will try to state it less.
Fair points about the unions though. I try to be objective, and I have not said much bad about most unions, just the UAW and public unions. I think my points are valid.
It is not like I am running out with signs to march against them, or even expressing my views many other places than here. Just seems to be a hot topic on these forums, and thought I would put in my .02 ,
Speaking of which CD, I dont want you to think that I think your are some sort of scumbag for being in a union. I just think that there should be limits to union power (as well as corporate)
It is not like I am making policy or anything.
Unfortunately, CD only reads and comprehends what he wants because I've known that Rick was in the military since I joined three years ago.
When I was young and dumb I thought that joining a union would be cool and that I would be making an excellent wage and all. Then I went to a union meeting and saw the greed for myself. ( I worked for Alcoa non union plant almost fifteen years) Luckily, the union never obtained enough votes to certify. Our plant took in many workers from a steel plant that closed its doors and moved to China. Some of the guys had good things to say, yet most had enough of the unions bs. I heard tell many stories of how workers would never spend any time at home sleeping because they knew they could saw some logs at work. Then they would be scratching their head trying to figure out how China steel could be sold more competitive to a customer that was accross the street from the steel mill. My brother and his wife worked at the steel mill at the same time and they are not pro union either.
I don't see why cd acts like he has skin in the game when it comes to collective bargaining. He says the pension padding should be dealt with but fails to realize that if the collective bargaining isn't taken away, the union will just try to get those benefits and pensions back as soon as possible.
Like I said..I used to be luke warm to unions...then I started to think things all the way through.
