I honest to god wish we were going to be playing hockey in a week, and I just can't find the words to describe how embarrassing and disgusting this is for the game.

The reality of the situation is they are literally fighting over loose change. Insignificant figures which aren't even large enough to make a real difference in their lives. The message being sent to the fans is basically darn you, even though you're responsible for keeping the game above water, and essentially paying the players themselves. We are responsible for putting the money in the owners pockets to fuel this game, yet it is being snagged from under our noses for pocket change.

IMO, it's on the players this time. The owners gave in last time, it's time to sacrifice and give a little back in order to help keep the integerity of the game.

I know hope is all but lost at this point, but maybe, just maybe a miracle will occur sometime in the near future.

I hope everyone had a great off season, and may the great people on this awesome forum have a hockey season.

I really DON'T see HOW this is "on the players" to give up their persentage of the league revenue WHEN, during the current contract, the NHL has gone from $2 billion in revenue to $3 billion.

this looks like a pure "money grab" power-play by Bettman and the owners and quite frankly IF I was a Russian or other European player, I would just blow the Bettman beer league off. they may not make as much money in the KHL or another Euro league BUT the schedules over there aren't nearly as murderous as in the NHL. most teams are playing twice a week like in the old 6 team NHL of the 1960's so there is a lot less chance of injury and way less chance of "burnout"

I have no sympathy for the owners who sit in their box seats and watch and make millions per game. The players should not give in at all - compared to baseball or basketball they are WAY under paid. I think what they make now is fair. Like LeRinkRat said its a pure money play by Bettman and the owners, whereas the players are trying to fix the situation like in Phoenix and Columbus. But the owners want a percentage and they think that fixes it. It doesn't. Get rid of those teams or let the owners lose darn em!!

Jesus christ some of you guys are clueless, the players gave in last time, not the owners and the same will happen this time eventually as well, and exactly who is making millions either than the Habs, Leafs, Rangers and maybe Canucks? The owners are right to demand a revenue split similar to the nfl and nba which is basically 50-50.

The one thing I find interesting is that it's been reported Jeremy Jacobs is once again the main force behind the lockout but the Bruins locked up Milan Lucic for 18 mil over 3 years, so a power foward who is good for 60pts a year is worth 6 mil ??? That's what the Twins make up here, and there among the league leaders in points the last 4 years, as well as hart trophy for Henrik.
