Team Finland and Team Canada begin their respective quests for gold in the Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics on Thursday, February 5.

My top Finland vs. Canada predictions call for the Canadians to pull away early and never look back in their Olympic opener at the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena.

Finland vs Canada prediction

Finland vs Canada Best bet: Canada -3.5 (-150 at BET99)

Team Canada has been a juggernaut to start the Olympic Games with five consecutive wins in the tournament opener by a combined 56-2 score

The Canadians have also beaten Team Finland in four straight meetings, outscoring the Finns 31-2.

Opening against Finland will stand as the Canadians’ toughest test, though, and the Finns have won back-to-back bronze medals in the World Championship.

Still, I anticipate a veteran Canadian core loaded with international experience to be up to the task and win by 4+ on Thursday.

Canada -3.5

Canada -1.5 first period

Over 6.5

Look for Canada to jump out to a quick lead, with their depth and experience generating quality scoring chances and potential power-play opportunities early.

As highlighted, this has been a lopsided matchup, and the Finns don’t have the same star power jumping the boards. In particular, while projected starting goalie Sanni Ahola is a potential difference-maker for Finland, this will be her first Olympic start following just a pair of PWHL appearances this season.
