The Dallas Stars wrap up a six-game road trip against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night in a key Western Conference battle.

The Stars started off the road trip back on March 9 in Buffalo, and Dallas potted 10 goals in a rout of the Sabres. However, the offense has dried up recently, and Dallas is limping to the finish line.

The Flames offense erupted for seven goals last time out on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights, tying a season-high, which Calgary also matched against those poor Sabres in Buffalo on February 11.

This is the third and final meeting of the regular season, and the Stars are likely thankful for that. Calgary has won a pair of high-scoring one-goal games so far.

Can the Stars salvage a game in the season series, or will the Flames broom the visitors back to the Metroplex with a third consecutive loss? We’ll discuss in our NHL betting picks for Stars vs. Flames on Saturday, March 18.

Stars vs Flames best odds

Stars vs Flames picks and predictions

The Stars fired in 19 total goals in the first three games of this road trip, notching a 10-spot in Buffalo, before scoring four goals and five goals in a pair of games in a back-to-back set at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

However, since heading north to face the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, the Stars seem to have left their offense at the border. They suffered a 5-2 loss in Vancouver, and were drummed 4-1 in Edmonton on Thursday.

Scoring hasn’t been the problem for the Stars against the Flames, but rather poor defense and goaltender play. Dallas suffered a 6-5 loss at home on January 14, while suffering a 5-4 setback in the Metroplex on March 6.

Calgary was experiencing a power outage in late February and into March, totaling just 12 goals in a seven-game span from February 25 to March 10. However, five of those goals came in Dallas on March 6.

And lately, the Flames have re-discovered their scoring ways, averaging 5.0 goals per game (GPG) across the past three contests, picking up five out of a possible six points in the process.

Jake Oettinger and Jacob Markstrom are projected to get the starting nod in the crease. Those two faced each other in the most recent meeting, with Oettinger stopping 32 of the 37 shots he faced, while Markstrom made 29 saves on 33 shots in the victory.

Look for Calgary to maintain its dominance in this series with another solid victory and crucial points as the Flames try to stay in the race for a wild-card in the Western Conference.

Stars vs Flames moneyline analysis

The Stars have won five of the past seven games on the road, but those two losses have occurred in the past two games.

On the flip side, the Flames have won just once in the past six games at home, but are 4-0 in the past four games against teams with a winning overall record. Calgary has dominated this series lately, too, posting four wins in the past five times it has hosted Dallas, while the Flames are 5-1 in the previous six meetings overall.

Dallas enters as the underdog, which has actually been pretty good news for puck line bettors of the Stars. As an underdog, the Stars are 0-1 on this trip against the puck line, but Dallas has covered 11 straight games on the puck line when not favored.

As a favorite, Calgary has cashed on the puck line in two of the past three games, while going 3-8 in the past 11 games when laying a goal and a half.

If you want to play a side, rolling with the Flames on the money line is the play, but take Dallas if playing the puck line.

Stars vs Flames Over/Under analysis

The Stars have been ticking off Over results on a regular basis lately. The Over is 8-1-1 in the past 10 games overall, while going 5-1 in the past six games on the road.

The Over is also 5-1 in the past six tries against Pacific Division foes, while going 7-1-1 in the past nine games against Western Conference teams overall. For the Flames, the Under has cashed in four straight games at home, although the Over is 5-2 in the past seven games after a straight-up win.

And in this series, we’ve seen the Over cash at a 3-0-1 clip in the past four meetings, including each of the first two battles this season.

Bank on the Over, and roll with either the Flames on the money line for a nice parlay, or take a chance with the Stars on the puck line and go high.
