The Avalanche have been locking down defensively of late and on the wrong end of that tonight will be Pavel Buchnevich and the Blues. Find out where the betting value lies in our NHL prop picks for March 19 below.

There are mismatches in the NHL odds throughout Tuesday’s schedule with just a pair of marquee matchups standing out.

The Jets visit the Rangers in a battle of contenders in the Stanley Cup odds, and the Golden Knights host the Lightning in the most intriguing late game. Still, with 13 games on the docket and the postseason closing in, there's plenty on the line.

Here are our free NHL picks and top NHL player props for Tuesday, March 19.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Nylander stays hot vs. wounded Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are allowing a league-high 34.86 shots per 60 minutes with a 29th-ranked 44.2 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 through six games with No. 1 center Dylan Larkin (lower body) out of action.

So, this is a cushy matchup for Columbus Blue Jackets winger Alexander Nylander to continue his breakout stretch.

He paces Columbus forwards in shots and attempts overall and per 60 minutes across his past 11 contests, and he’s also skating in a top-line role and with the No. 1 power-play unit. Additionally, I also value these Alexander Nylander odds because his 58.1 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 leads the team during that stretch.

He's cleared this number in eight of the past 11 games and his 13.18 shots per 60 rank ninth in the league during the heater.

Alexander Nylander prop: Over 2.5 shots on goal (-115 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: No bite from Sharks

The Nashville Predators are rolling and land in a favorable home matchup against the bottom-feeding San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. They've dropped 13 of their past 14 contests while allowing the most attempts (68.59) and third-most shots (33.58) per 60 minutes.

Preds winger Jason Zucker has fit in nicely and recorded 10 shots and 17 attempts through four games since being acquired ahead of the trade deadline. He’s skating in a secondary role, which sets up perfectly because San Jose lacks depth.

Zucker and linemates Colton Sissons and Anthony Beauvillier are also coming off their best possession game at 5-on-5 (63.2 Corsi For percentage) against the Kraken, and this will also be Zucker’s first home game with the benefit of last change since joining the Preds.

I’m also targeting these Jason Zucker odds because he’s historically been a higher-volume shooter than both Beauvillier and Sissons. He's also failed to register a power-play shot despite three attempts with Nashville.

Jason Zucker prop: Over 2.5 shots on goal (+115 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Pass on Pavel

The Colorado Avalanche have tidied it up of late with two goals or fewer allowed in seven of their past nine contests, and No. 1 goalie Alexander Georgiev is sporting a four-game winning streak with a .930 SV%, 1.94 GAA, and 2.29 goals saved above average. As a result, I’m targeting St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich in the points market.

He's been dropped to the No. 2 line of late, and his numbers take a steep decline when he isn’t skating with Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou. The 28-year-old Russian has only been on the ice for 0.98 goals per 60 minutes while playing to a 47.1 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 when he hasn’t played with that duo. He's also missed the scoresheet entirely in eight of his past 12 games.

Additionally, this is a huge downtick in class for the Avs. They’re finishing off a four-game road trip Tuesday after topping the Flames, Canucks and Oilers through the first three stops. As a result, I see an edge in these Pavel Buchnevich odds.

Pavel Buchnevich prop: Under 0.5 points (+105 at Bet99)
