The Maple Leafs are looking stronger offensively, and the Penguins have been playing with fire on the defensive end. Pittsburgh's luck runs out tonight as Toronto clears its team total of 3.5.

Penguins vs Maple Leafs prediction

Penguins vs Maple Leafs Best bet: Maple Leafs team total Over 3.5 (-120)

Everyone is waiting for the bubble to burst for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and their loss to Winnipeg on Saturday night showed signs of falling back to earth with 4.02 xGA with 16 High-danger chances allowed.

Overall, Pittsburgh ranks 27th in the NHL, averaging 2.98 xGA per game at 5-on-5, while giving up the fifth-most shots on goal per contest.

What’s allowed them to go 8-3-2 to this point is a combined .915 SV% from their goalies. Given the track record of Pittsburgh’s netminders, I expect regression there, especially if the Pens continue to give up a lot of quality chances.

Enter the Toronto Maple Leafs

The Buds scored five goals in their last game and have gone Over the posted team total (3.5) in three of four.

Over this stretch, Toronto is averaging 3.58 goals per game, while ranking second in goals at 5-on-5, averaging 3.02 G/60.

Additionally, the Leafs have had a great track record against this Penguins team, winning four of the last five meetings and averaging 4.4 goals.

Penguins vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay

John Tavares has passed this SOG total in six straight games, averaging 4.33 per. Additionally, Pittsburgh allows 30.9 shots per contest this season.

I’ll add an anytime goal from Matthew Knies. He’s been one of the most consistent Leafs this season. Additionally, the Leafs' power forward has scored in five of the six games he’s played against Pittsburgh. Moreover, the Pens allow a lot of high-danger chances, which Knies ranks third among all Maple Leafs in that department.
