NHL's Frozen Frenzy gets started with the latest edition of the Battle of Pennsylvania when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins.

My Penguins vs. Flyers predictions like the rested home side to emerge victorious against an exhausted Pittsburgh team.

I break down the matchup further with my favorite NHL picks for Tuesday, October 28.

Penguins vs Flyers prediction

Penguins vs Flyers Best bet: Flyers moneyline (-160)

The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a surprisingly strong 7-2-1 start, but they could be due for some regression. Their 5-on-5 expected goals share sits in the bottom half of the league at 48.92%, and they’re in a tough schedule spot in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers’ 4-3-1 record so far may not seem great, but they’ve played quite a tough schedule early on and held their own against teams like the Panthers (twice), Hurricanes, and Wild. They’ve won three of their last four, with the lone loss coming in Ottawa last week.

Philadelphia appears to be a team that can look dominant against teams on its level or slightly below, compete against similarly competent teams, and be a step behind the true top dogs.

Add in the rivalry factor and the Penguins playing on no days rest, and we should see a home victory on Tuesday night.

Penguins vs Flyers same-game parlay

The Trevor Zegras trade is looking like a steal for Danny Briere and the Flyers. He has eight points in as many games to start the season, six of which have come via the assist.

He’s had an assist in every home game to start his Flyers career, and his line is only getting better as Matvei Michkov finds his game.

Evgeni Malkin is also off to a great start in what will likely be his final season in Pittsburgh. He has 13 assists on the season, including seven during a five-game streak.
