Leon Draisaitl has not scored in five consecutive games — his longest stretch in multiple seasons — despite piling up the shots and chances during that stretch.

Squaring off against a team bleeding chances and taking penalties in bulk, my Oilers vs. Bruins predictions and NHL picks see Draisaitl finding the net in Boston.

Oilers vs Bruins prediction

Oilers vs Bruins best bet: Leon Draisaitl anytime goalscorer (+125)

Leon Draisaitl is the most consistent goal scorer in the NHL. He leads all players in goals since the beginning of last season, sitting nine clear of Nathan MacKinnon.

He's clearly a threat to score multiple goals on any given night, but it’s his consistency that has really helped him separate himself from the pack. He's only gone more than three straight games without a goal twice over the past ~1.5 seasons.

Draisaitl went four in a row in the middle of last season, and his current drought sits at five, his longest in years.

It’s certainly not for a lack of opportunity. He's averaged 8.6 shot attempts during this goalless stretch, leading the Edmonton Oilers in both goals and chances. The puck just hasn’t gone in.

Draisaitl is a lethal sharpshooter, so if the chances continue to be there, the dam will break sooner than later.

He should get plenty of looks against the Boston Bruins. They rank 29th in shot suppression and dead last in expected goals against at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games.

The Bruins are also a mediocre penalty-killing team and have spent more time shorthanded than anybody. This is a very good spot for Draisaitl to find the net.

Oilers vs Bruins same-game parlay

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has at least one assist in 13 of his last 19 games. He’s riding shotgun with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman at evens and plays a big part in spoonfeeding Draisaitl shots on the power play. He couldn’t ask for better surroundings.

When the Oilers win, they tend to win big. Seven straight victories have come by multiple goals, with six of them decided by three or more.
