Devils vs Islanders Prediction, Picks & Same-Game Parlay for Tonight’s NHL Game

Even if Jesper Bratt hasn't been his best self, he's still piling up assists, especially when his Devils teammates are healthy as they are now. Another apple comes tonight against the Isles.

Jesper Bratt hasn’t had his best season, and yet he still leads the New Jersey Devils in points.

My Devils vs. Islanders predictions expect Bratt to find the scoresheet in a big divisional matchup, with his playmaking likely front and center.

Let’s dig deeper into my NHL picks for Tuesday, January 6.

Devils vs Islanders prediction

Devils vs Islanders best bet: Jesper Bratt Over 0.5 assists (-130)

The New Jersey Devils have dealt with a lot of injury problems this season, which is one reason why Jesper Bratt's output – and that of other key players – has dipped relative to the norms.

Bratt’s counting totals don’t pop off the page, but he’s flirting with a point per game when the core of the roster is healthy and in the lineup.

Isolating games with Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Timo Meier all available, Bratt has produced 0.9 points per game – 0.2 higher than his average otherwise.

Most of those points have come by way of assist, as you would expect given his season totals (nine goals, 24 helpers).

Bratt has been skating on a loaded top line alongside Hughes and Hischier of late. They haven’t produced much, but the underlying numbers (3.11 expected goals per 60) and the line's undeniable talent suggest the points will come.

Not to mention, Bratt sits 11th in assists over the last 2.5 seasons and has mustered up only one over his last nine games. He’s long overdue for some positive regression.

A date with the New York Islanders could help him get going again. Bratt has a great track record against them, having piled up 13 assists over the last 12 head-to-head meetings.

Devils vs Islanders same-game parlay

Luke Hughes had a miserable night at the office last time out. After positive public backing from Sheldon Keefe and his teammates, I’m expecting him to be highly motivated to get back on the horse. He is one of the best offensive players on the team and should benefit from quarterbacking PP1 against an Islanders squad giving up a lot of shots, chances, and goals while undermanned.

Emil Heineman has attempted at least four shots in all six games without Bo Horvat, averaging 5.7. He boasts a 72% clear rate this season when generating four attempts or more.

Devils vs Islanders SGP

  • Jesper Bratt Over 0.5 assists
  • Luke Hughes Over 0.5 points
  • Emil Heineman Over 1.5 shots on goal
