Mitch Marner has fit like a glove in Vegas, averaging more than a point per game while generating assists at an elite rate.

My Devils vs. Golden Knights predictions expect Marner’s playmaking prowess to shine through against an injury-plagued team.

Let’s dig deeper into my NHL picks for Wednesday, December 17.

Devils vs Golden Knights prediction

Devils vs Golden Knights best bet: Mitch Marner Over 0.5 assists (-130)

Mitch Marner has piled up assists at an impressive rate in his debut season with the Vegas Golden Knights. He’s registered 26 through 31 games, tying him for 12th among all players.

He has produced at a very consistent rate throughout. Marner has at least one assist in 18 of his 31 appearances, good for a 58% clip.

His hate rate soars to 73% when isolating games in Vegas, where he is averaging an assist per game through 15.

While the expectation was that Marner would attach to the hip of Jack Eichel, that hasn’t been the case. That’s not a bad thing – Marner has actually produced at an excellent clip without Eichel on his line.

Marner has played nine games with Mark Stone and Brett Howden as his running mates. He has nine assists in that span and has picked one up in seven of those games, including against the New Jersey Devils.

Brett Pesce is expected to return for the Devils tonight, but they’re still dealing with an abundance of key absences. Jack Hughes, Timo Meier, Arseny Gritsyuk, Johnathan Kovacevic, and Simon Nemec are all sidelined, to name but a few.

Not to mention, Jacob Markstrom has allowed at least three goals in 13 of 16 starts. He’s unlikely to make up for the mistakes a watered-down roster makes in front of him.

Devils vs Golden Knights same-game parlay

Pavel Dorofeyev is playing with Tomas Hertl and Brandon Saad on the ‘3rd’ line for Vegas. He has at least three shots in nine of 12 games played with that pair of linemates. He should also see cushy matchups against a very thinned-out Devils lineup.

On the flip side, Dawson Mercer stands to benefit from all the missing bodies for the Devils. He’s playing with stars Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt on the top line and also skating on the top power play unit.

Devils vs Golden Knights SGP

  • Mitch Marner Over 0.5 assists
  • Pavel Dorofeyev Over 2.5 shots
  • Dawson Mercer Over 0.5 points
