The Edmonton Oilers can advance to the Stanley Cup Final with a win over the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center on Thursday, May 29.

Dallas has been excellent on home ice dating back to the regular season, though, and my top NHL picks for the Connor McDavid odds expect No. 97 to be in tough tonight in The Lone Star State.

Connor McDavid best bet

Pick (-135 at BET99)

If the Dallas Stars are going to send the Western Conference Final back to Rogers Place for a Game 6, holding Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid in check will be priority No. 1.

McDavid has piled up an impressive two goals and five assists through the first four games of the series, and he’s posted an elite 4.09 points per 60 minutes with his 24 total pacing the postseason.

Still, his production has dipped slightly on the highway – 1.38 points per game vs. 1.86 on home ice – and Dallas has been excellent at the American Airlines Center with just 2.44 goals against per game through nine playoff games.

Additionally, Dallas No. 1 Jake Oettinger has been solid at home with a .916 save percentage and 2.26 GAA during the playoffs.

Finally, four of the seven games McDavid has failed to record double-digit points have been on the highway.

Connor McDavid same-game parlay

Connor McDavid Under 1.5 points

Stuart Skinner Over 24.5 saves

Mikko Rantanen Over 2.5 shots

The Stars exploded out of the gate in Game 4 with 16 shots on 39 attempts, and I expect Dallas to be putting pucks on net early and often again tonight.

Head coach Pete Deboer has the last-change advantage, too, and Dallas has won 35 of its past 51 home games – and seven of nine in the playoffs – after all.

Turning to Dallas winger Mikko Rantanen, his shot volume has dropped considerably the past three contests with just 4.84 shots and 12.58 attempts per 60 minutes. It’s notably below the respective 8.12 and 16.19 marks he posted across his first 14 postseason games of the spring.

With the season on the line, I’m anticipating an uptick in shot volume from the Finn on home ice Thursday night.
