Cole Caufield is by far the most prolific shooter on the Montreal Canadiens, leading the team in shot attempts, shots on target, and expected goals – all by healthy margins.

My Canadiens vs. Mammoth predictions expect Caufield to build on his already strong volume on a new-look top line featuring Zachary Bolduc.

Let’s get into my NHL picks for Wednesday, November 26.

Canadiens vs Mammoth prediction

Canadiens vs Mammoth Best bet: Cole Caufield Over 2.5 shots on goal (-150)

Cole Caufield is in the midst of a nice shooting spree, recording at least three shots on goal in four consecutive games, averaging nearly five per night.

His uptick in volume coincides with a shift on Montreal’s top line, with Zachary Bolduc taking Juraj Slafkovsky's place.

Caufield has averaged 9.98 shots on goal per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play with Bolduc on his opposite wing. That’s a healthy step up from the 6.57 he averaged with Slafkovsky riding shotgun, although we’re not dealing with a large sample size.

No matter who has played with Caufield, he’s consistently generated shots on the road all year. He’s surpassed this line in seven of nine, with one of the misses coming against a New Jersey Devils team that is tied for fourth in points.

Also working in Caufield’s favor is that he has rested since Saturday. He has a great track record of producing shots following three full days off in his NHL career.

Dating back to 2022, Caufield has averaged 3.7 shots per game and gone Over eight times in 10 tries when playing after three rest days.

Canadiens vs Mammoth same-game parlay

Caufield is one of the better shooters in the league, so it’s no coincidence that goals tend to follow when the volume is there. He has scored in six of his past 10 games after three days off, including all three since the beginning of last season.

Utah Mammoth F Clayton Keller recorded an assist in more than 60% of his home games last year and has picked up where he left off this season. He has eight assists over his past seven at the Delta Center after an off day.
