The Boston Bruins visit the Chicago Blackhawks for an Original Six matchup as one of the 16 games on the NHL Frozen Frenzy’s slate tonight. There are plenty of ways to play this game on the NHL odds board.

At 5-0-0, the Bruins are one of the few undefeated teams remaining. They've won all five games in regulation with all but one of those victories coming by at least two goals.

On the other hand, the Blackhawks sit at 2-4-0 through six games. The Connor Bedard show is in full swing as Chicago tries to build around its young superstar even if the win-loss results haven't emerged.

Given the disparity between these two teams, it’s worth looking at some NHL player props for tonight’s matchup. Additionally, take a look at our NHL picks for Bruins vs. Blackhawks before the puck drops.

Bruins vs Blackhawks prop picks for tonight

  • Bedard Over 0.5 pts

Bruins vs Blackhawks prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Connor continues to impress

Connor Bedard has points in four of his first six NHL games, including a goal last time out in his home debut. In fact, Bedard also scored in the first meeting against the Boston Bruins in which he took six shots (seven attempted) with five individual scoring chances.

The Bruins aren't allowing a lot of goals but the Chicago Blackhawks' top line centered by Bedard is going to be the one to watch tonight.

It is a bit worrisome that veteran winger Taylor Hall is out with an injury for Chicago. That leaves Tyler Johnson and Nick Foligno as the wingers skating alongside Bedard on the first line. While those may not be the most flashy names, both guys are veterans who should be able to help the rookie along tonight against the Bruins.

Bedard may also do his damage on the power play. The Blackhawks have two power-play goals in the last three games with Bedard being joined by Corey Perry, Lukas Reichel, Ryan Donato, and Seth Jones on the top unit.

It’s going to be a long season in Chicago but Bedard’s superstardom should help ease the pain. He’s a good bet to score a point as long as odds remain around a pick’em.

Connor Bedard prop: Over 0.5 points (-120 at DraftKings)

Prop bet #2: Pasta night

The Bruins lost Patrice Bergeron to retirement over the summer but locked up David Pastrnak to an eight-year contract extension before the end of last season. He's been one of the best players in the league over the past few years and is now tasked with carrying the Bruins' offense alongside Brad Marchand.

Pastrnak had five or more shots on goal in 50 of 82 games last year (60.97%) but has only reached that mark in two of five contests this season. However, it hasn't been for a lack of trying. He's had at least nine shot attempts in four of his five games and has reached four shots in the three games he went Under 4.5.

The Blackhawks are allowing over 35 SOG per game and Pastrnak racked up nine shot attempts despite only getting four on net in the season opener against Chicago.

Look for Pastrnak to be firing at will tonight in Chicago. It may be worth a look at a ladder up to six or seven shots as well.

David Pastrnak prop: Over 4.5 shots on goal (-110 at BetMGM)

Prop bet #3: Veteran presence

Veteran winger James van Riemsdyk was one of the Bruins’ sneaky signings this offseason. JVR signed a one-year deal in Boston for just $1 million and it's paying off so far.

He has points in three of the Bruins' five games, including two power-play goals. Most importantly, van Riemsdyk is playing on the top power-play unit with Boston's big guns.

JVR makes his money in front of the net with the man advantage and the Blackhawks have been vulnerable on the penalty kill. Chicago has allowed three power-play goals on eight chances in the last two games.

Pastrnak (+120) and Marchand (+140) have much shorter odds to record a power-play point. Even Charlie McAvoy and Pavel Zacha are both at +225. Take the value and hope JVR can get his stick on one in front at +350.

James van Riemsdyk prop: Over 0.5 power-play points (+350 at BetMGM)
