Blues vs Hurricanes Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Carolina Smashes Visiting St. Louis

St. Louis has elected to become a seller as the deadline approaches, leaving the team with no identity and severely lacking firepower. With the Hurricanes cruising, our NHL betting picks expect this matchup to get ugly for the Blues.

The St. Louis Blues and Carolina Hurricanes lock horns at PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday night.

St. Louis parted ways with Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari this past week, and the slide has begun. The team lost 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche at home Saturday, followed by a 7-2 pounding on the road Sunday in the second end of a back-to-back.

Meanwhile, Carolina has won three straight while grabbing points in 13 of the past 14 outings. These are two teams going in completely different directions, with one team throwing in the towel on the season, while one team has legitimate Stanley Cup aspirations.

Can the visitors cobble together enough goals to surprise the Canes, or will Carolina continue to make St. Louis blue? We’ll discuss in our NHL betting picks and predictions for the Blues vs. Hurricanes.

Blues vs Hurricanes best odds

Blues vs Hurricanes picks and predictions

The Blues have dropped the past two games against the Avs and Sens by a combined score of 11-3, and there is likely a lot more disappointment coming for the St. Louis fanbase.

Acciari is gone, O’Reilly is gone, Tarasenko is gone, and the Blues likely aren’t done dealing yet, as general manager Doug Armstrong is looking to grab picks and prospects to do a quick rebuild in the style of the Los Angeles Kings, rather than a long-term down period.

The Hurricanes have a shopping list and likely will be looking to add another key piece or two, as they’re all in. Carolina is looking to parlay its amazing season and outdoor win to legitimately contend for a second Stanley Cup in franchise history.

As we head into this game, the only concern is the Hurricanes taking the Blues lightly. After all of the attention, excitement, and feel-good energy after Saturday’s outdoor win, it wouldn’t be shocking to see a lack of jump and energy Tuesday night. Carolina can show its championship mettle if it is able to fight through and get two points on a night when the lights aren’t as bright.

Based on the lack of offense for the Blues, the terrible defense and goaltending, and the high-scoring ways of the Hurricanes, play the puck line on the home side, but be very careful not to go too crazy.

My best bet: Hurricanes -1.5 (-120 at BetMGM)

Blues vs Hurricanes moneyline analysis

The Blues enter Tuesday’s game as a heavy underdog on the moneyline and are 2-4 in the past six games when not favored.

St. Louis also fell 6-4 at home against the Hurricanes back on December 1, and that’s when the Blues were still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, with plenty of hope prior to the holidays.

In that first meeting, the Blues scored power-play goals by Pavel Buchnevich and Torey Krug, while Acciari and O’Reilly scored even-strength markers. The latter two aren’t walking through that door Tuesday night. Tarasenko had two assists in that first meeting and is now wearing a Blueshirt for the New York Rangers.

Jordan Martinook notched his second-career hat trick in that first meeting, which saw Antti Raanta suffer some sort of undisclosed injury late in the second period of a 3-3 game. Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov was thrust into action, with Frederik Andersen on injured reserve, and he picked up the win. Andersen is projected to get the start, and that’s bad news for the Blues.

Back the home side on the puck line, as the Blues don’t have the firepower to keep up with the high-flying Hurricanes.

Blues vs Hurricanes Over/Under analysis

The Blues have been a favorite Over bettors lately, whether it’s unexpected offense prior to the departures, or a complete lack of defense and solid goaltending.

The Over is 31-13-7 in the past 51 games overall for St. Louis while cashing at a 32-14-5 clip in the past 51 road outings. The Over is also 38-11-5 in the past 54 games against Eastern Conference foes, and 19-6-2 in the previous 27 against the Metropolitan Division. That’s a lot of evidence to back the Over.

For Carolina, it cashed the Under in the outdoor game, but back indoors, the Over is 6-1 in the past seven skates at PNC Arena.

The Over is 5-1 in the past six games against Western Conference foes for the Hurricanes, while going 6-0 in the past six against teams with a losing overall record.

Look for the total to go high, and pair that with the Hurricanes on the puck line for a nice parlay opportunity.

Blues vs Hurricanes betting trend to know

The favorite has cashed in each of the past five meetings in this series, with the Blues going just 1-4 in the past five battles against the Hurricanes. Find more NHL betting trends for Blues vs Hurricanes.
