The New Jersey Devils will be without superstar Jack Hughes for the foreseeable future, forcing other players to step up in his absence.

Jesper Bratt has proven himself capable of doing just that, which is why my Blues vs. Devils predictions see him generating plenty of shots on Wednesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at my November 26 NHL picks.

Blues vs Devils prediction

Blues vs Devils Best bet: Jesper Bratt Over 2.5 shots on goal (+135)

Jesper Bratt is a different player when Jack Hughes is out of the lineup. He does less facilitating and takes on a much bigger role as a shooter.

Bratt recorded 3+ shots in just 35% of his games last season with Hughes healthy and playing. His shot volume spiked without Hughes, and that translated to a 58% hit rate on the Over.

We’ve seen more of the same in the early going this year. Bratt has averaged six shot attempts through five games without Hughes compared to just 3.6 with him in the lineup.

The uptick in shot-generation should certainly be evident in this matchup against the St. Louis Blues. They rank Bottom-8 in shot suppression at 5-on-5 and on the penalty kill over the last 10 games.

St. Louis has bled shots to wingers during that time, conceding more volume than all but the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Given Bratt’s change in role, and the advantageous matchup, there is a lot of value in backing him at this price point.

Blues vs Devils same-game parlay

Luke Hughes is another guy who has benefited from the absence of Jack. He averaged nearly 1.5 more attempts per game without his brother last season and his attempt volume is even higher this year.

Jimmy Snuggerud has averaged 2.4 shots on 5.0 attempts on the road following a day of rest. The New Jersey Devils haven’t limited volume as effectively without Brett Pesce and Jack Hughes in the lineup, which should increase Snuggerud’s floor and ceiling.

Blues vs Devils SGP

  • Jesper Bratt Over 2.5 shots on goal
  • Luke Hughes Over 1.5 shots on goal
  • Jimmy Snuggerud Over 1.5 shots on goal
