The Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons will meet on Friday night as both teams look to pick up their first victory in NFL preseason action.

The Titans hope Cam Ward and Calvin Ridley can build off their short time together last week, while the Falcons will see what their offense can produce with their starters appearing for the first time in preseason action.

Find out why we’re expecting a low-scoring affair in our Titans vs Falcons predictions and NFL picks for Friday, August 15.

Titans vs Falcons prediction

Titans vs Falcons Best bet: Under 38 (-110 at bet365)

In their respective opening preseason games, the Tennessee Titans scored just seven points while the Atlanta Falcons managed only 10. And while it’s unlikely we will see those numbers replicated, it’s the underlying cause of each that has me going Under in this matchup.

Neither team ran the ball particularly well, although it’s worth noting Bijan Robinson did not play for Atlanta. That’s important because the Titans were gashed on the ground by Tampa Bay, so we might see the Falcons attempt to exploit that weakness. If successful, it means lengthy drives. If unsuccessful, it will likely hamper the Falcon offense.

On the other side of the coin, the Titans are hoping to see more from Cam Ward, but he’s not going to play more than two or three series as he did in the opener. Backups Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle were poor, and that’s putting it nicely, considering they combined for less than a 50% completion rate while throwing three picks.

Atlanta’s pass defense is solid and should limit what Allen and Boyle do again this week. The backups performed well against the Lions, and with starters getting action this week, I expect that level of play to improve.

Given the quality of the backup quarterbacks involved in this contest, it’s also unlikely we’re going to see big plays and scoring drives once the starters exit the contest. Take the Under for this one, all the way down to 36.5 points.
