The Los Angeles Chargers look to improve to 2-0 in the preseason when they welcome the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.
All eyes will be on the Saints as they debut under new head coach Kellen Moore, with a quarterback competition still unfolding. Expect some uncertainty as New Orleans sorts out its depth chart under center.

Saints vs Chargers Best bet: Over 36.5 (-110 at bet365)
While the Los Angeles Chargers aren’t planning to start Justin Herbert on Sunday, there’s still plenty of room for their offense to put up points. Taylor Heinicke and Trey Lance are both capable of pushing the ball down the field and directing scoring drives.
Jim Harbaugh said that Heinicke will get at least two drives in this contest before handing the ball over to Lance. The former third overall pick played a large portion of the Hall of Fame Game, where the Chargers posted 34 points against the Detroit Lions.
Whoever is taking snaps for the Chargers will be going against a New Orleans Saints defense that struggled against the pass last season. They’re now adapting to an entirely new defensive coaching staff and playbook, and NOLA didn’t make many offseason moves to suggest they’ll see major improvement.
On the flip side, Kellen Moore has indicated that Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and Tyler Shough will all see plenty of action as they battle for the starting job. Moore isn’t afraid of airing it out down the field as a play-caller, and we’re likely to see him push all three quarterbacks as he determines who is best suited to take the reins in the season opener.
Given the QB competition on one side and the high-quality backups under center on the other, I’ll take the Over and will play it as high as 38.5 points.
