Why are the Cardinals trading Marvin Harrison Jr.?

Considered a home-run pick at No. 4 overall back in 2024, Marvin Harrison Jr. entered the NFL with sky-high expectations after dominating at Ohio State.

However, the Harrison experiment simply hasn’t worked out as the Arizona Cardinals envisioned, with the former No. 4 overall pick failing to make the expected leap since entering the league.

After a promising rookie season, Harrison’s production took a step back last year, falling from 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024 to 41 catches for 608 yards and four TDs.

Things have gotten even quieter in 2026. Following several training camp blunders that drew plenty of attention on social media, Harrison has just five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown through four games, seeing only 13 targets in the process.

Harrison will be inactive for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup in Detroit, as Arizona is reportedly seeking at least a second-round pick in return for the 25-year-old.

Favorites to trade for Marvin Harrison Jr.

Houston logo Texans 54%

The Houston Texans have been searching for their premier WR1 after years of being spoiled with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins, and while Nico Collins is elite when healthy, his injury history makes it difficult to rely on him as the centerpiece of the Texans offense.

MHJ reuniting with C.J. Stroud would add another layer to the fit. The two starred together at Ohio State in 2022, when Harrison posted 77 catches for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Harrison followed that with another 1,200-yard season in 2023, while Stroud moved on to the NFL. Bringing the two back together could give Houston the true No. 1 receiver it has been searching for.

Las Vegas logo Raiders 30%

The Las Vegas Raiders have a great 1-2 punch at tight end with Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer, but Tre Tucker and Jalen Nailor don’t exactly scream WR1... or 2.

If there’s an offensive mind who could help reinvent MHJ’s career, Klint Kubiak is your guy.

Kansas City ChiefsChiefs 24%

The Kansas City Chiefs are another intriguing landing spot for Harrison, especially with their need for a true No. 1 receiver. Xavier Worthy hasn’t quite panned out as hoped, while Rashee Rice remains inconsistent, to say the least.

Tyquan Thornton also suffered a dislocated ankle last week, further thinning the receiving corps. Adding Harrison would give Patrick Mahomes another elite weapon and take some of the pressure off an aging Travis Kelce to carry the passing game.

KC also remains a heavy frontrunner in the Tyreek Hill next team odds...

The Shoe doesn't fit in Indy Indianapolis logo

You’d think the Indianapolis Colts would be a great fit for Marvin Harrison Jr., considering, well, Marvin Harrison Sr. is one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Add in Alec Pierce being out long-term, a receiving corps that falls off a cliff after Josh Downs (Laquon Treadwell is still in the league?!), and the fit makes plenty of sense.

But sometimes, the Shoe goes full Shoe, and Mike Chappell reported Saturday morning that the Colts will not be the destination for MHJ.

Where will Marvin Harrison Jr. be traded?

Prediction: Houston logo Texans 54%

Frankly, the fit is too good, and now I can just envision Marvin Harrison Jr. burning my Colts.

Not only would Harrison have a chance to revitalize his career in Houston, but so would C.J. Stroud, who has struggled immensely since his rookie season. A reunion with his former Ohio State teammate could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

DeMeco Ryans’ team is staring at a 0-5 start if things don’t improve offensively, and the Texans’ aerial attack could surge with the addition of MHJ, who, like Jeremiah Smith is now, was considered a sure thing coming out of college.

How to handicap Marvin Harrison Jr. odds

  • Watch the trade news: Harrison’s destination could change quickly as more details emerge. Pay close attention to credible reports rather than speculation on social media.

  • Track the market reaction: A confirmed team interest or trade development could cause a sharp move in probabilities, creating opportunities for traders who are following the news cycle closely.

  • Don’t chase the hype: Harrison’s name is generating plenty of buzz, but not every rumored destination carries the same weight. Separate legitimate reporting from speculation before making a move.

How to trade on Kalshi

Trading NFL futures on prediction markets like Kalshi is a different analytical experience than traditional sportsbooks. Instead of simply picking a winner, traders can buy and sell positions as the market's probability changes.

  • Find the market: Locate the “Marvin Harrison Jr.'s Next Team” market.
  • Trade the probability: Buy “Yes” shares if you believe a team's probability is undervalued, or “No” shares if you believe the market is overvaluing that outcome.
  • Follow the news: Breaking reports, roster moves, and credible team interest can cause probabilities to move quickly.
  • Know your exit: You don't necessarily have to hold until the market resolves. Traders can sell their position if the probability moves in their favor.
