Let’s be honest, primetime games were pretty poopy last week.

There’s no way the Week 11 Sunday Night Football matchup can fail to entertain, though. Not with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Detroit Lions in a potential NFC Championship teaser.

I give my early Lions vs. Eagles predictions and NFL picks for November 16 below.

Lions vs Eagles predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early SNF spread pick: Eagles -1.5

-110 at FanDuel

I like the Philadelphia Eagles in this game, but you may want to wait until later in the week to lay the short spread with the home favorite.

The Detroit Lions never lack for support, especially after looking great with a one-sided win over Washington in Week 10. And you know everyone and their mothers will be talking underdog trends when it comes to Detroit (which is 23-12 ATS as a dog under Dan Campbell).

Mix in the fact that Philadelphia is playing on a short week off a so-so showing at Green Bay on Monday, and we could see this spread shrink with support on the visitor. I’m not buying it.

The Eagles are the most adaptable team in the NFL and can win in various ways. Philadelphia can grind it out on the ground or attack a soft secondary for Detroit that is still missing plenty of pieces.

Early SNF total pick: Under 48.5

-110 at FanDuel

This Eagles defense looked great on Monday, stuffing the Packers to just 4.0 yards per play and really getting after quarterback Jordan Love.

Philadelphia’s vaunted pass rush looks like it's back after lying dormant for most of the season, scoring 10 total sacks and increasing QB pressures during its current three-game winning streak.

Detroit’s offensive line will be tested on SNF after allowing Jared Goff to feel the sixth-highest pressure rate among qualified quarterbacks. Goff runs a quick-hitting pass attack to begin with that keeps completions short.

With Campbell taking over play-calling, you can expect more handoffs from the Lions. Campbell snatched the playbook last week, and Detroit ran on 48.5% of its snaps. That will keep the clock ticking with shorter gains, which is a solid recipe for Unders.

This total is already starting to slim, with some books down to 48 points. I could see this closing between key stops of 47 and 48 later in the week, so bet your totals accordingly.
