The NFL Hall of Fame Game has arrived, signaling the approach of football season.

Underdog Fantasy has various player markets for the opening preseason clash between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Detroit Lions to make things that much more interesting. Don't miss my NFL player prop picks and Chargers vs. Lions predictions for July 31!

Chargers vs Lions Hall of Fame Game props

  • Chargers Lance higher than 116.5 pass yds
  • Chargers Harris higher than 16.5 rec yds
  • Lions Hooker lower than 99.5 pass yds

Trey Lance 116.5 passing yards: HIGHER (Play at Underdog)

Trey Lance should get plenty of run at QB for the Los Angeles Chargers tonight with Justin Herbert on the sidelines.

Lance will be matched up with a Detroit Lions defense that plans to rest many of its regulars. The former No. 3 overall pick should have time to go through his progressions without Aidan Hutchinson hounding him, and he should find open men vs. the Lions’ second, third, and fourth-stringers in the secondary.

It should be noted that Detroit’s defense was a dismal 26th in yards allowed per game a season ago, and that does not include the 481 total yards this unit surrendered to the Washington Commanders when they were bounced out of the Divisional Round of the 2024-25 playoffs.

Tre' Harris 16.5 receiving yards: HIGHER (Play at Underdog)

Someone has to catch the passes thrown by Trey Lance tonight, and Tre’ Harris is a prime candidate to do so.

Harris is a rookie out of Mississippi looking to establish himself as a favored target of Herbert this year. The second-round selection amassed 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns in just eight games in 2024-25.

He will be looking to fill the void left by Ladd McConkey, who is nursing a minor injury, and Mike Williams, who shockingly retired over the summer after signing a deal to reunite with the Bolts.

Harris averaged just over 16 yards a grab in his collegiate career. I’m not saying he’ll eclipse this line with just one reception, but that’s far from a long shot possibility.

Hendon Hooker 99.5 passing yards: LOWER (Play at Underdog)

Per reports, Hendon Hooker will not be starting under center for the Lions tonight, Instead, it will be Kyle Allen, a 29-year-old journeyman.

While Hooker will almost certainly see the field at some point with Jared Goff riding the pine on Thursday night, it stands to reason that his impact will be limited. It also suggests that the Lions might not be confident in Hooker’s ability to win the No. 2 QB job ahead of Week 1.

Hooker went 29 of 44 for 300 yards last preseason, but he also took off and ran 19 times for 138 yards. Given his proclivity for making plays with his feet, it makes sense to fade his passing output in the Hall of Fame Game tonight.
