The San Francisco 49ers head to SoFi Stadium to face the Los Angeles Rams tonight.
L.A. wideout Puka Nacua is on pace to break the record for receiving yards in a season, and my NFL picks are backing him to have another big game in prime time.
Check out the rest of my best 49ers vs. Rams player props for Thursday, October 2.
49ers vs Rams TNF props
| Player | Pick | |
|---|---|---|
| Over 91.5 receiving yards | -110 | |
| Under 63.5 rushing yards | -110 | |
| Over 27.5 rushing yards | -110 |
Puka Nacua Over 91.5 receiving yards (-110)
Puka Nacua has been targeted a whopping 15 times in each of the last two weeks, and his league-leading 503 receiving yards are 101 more than the second-place Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The Los Angeles Rams wideout is a model of consistency, racking up at least 97 receiving yards in 10 of his last 14 games. That includes a contest against the San Francisco 49ers last year, where he finished with seven catches for 97 yards despite heavy rain.
Nacua excels against zone coverage, and the 49ers play zone at a Top-10 rate. San Fran's highest-rated corner Deommodore Lenoir has a coverage grade of just 61.5 per PFF, and two starters in the secondary sport coverage grades below 50.
The Niners also have the fourth-lowest pressure rate in the league, which should give Stafford plenty of time to find his favorite target.
Christian McCaffrey Under 63.5 rushing yards (-110)
The 49ers receiver corps is decimated by injuries. Wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings have been ruled out for Thursday night, joining Brandon Aiyuk and Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle on the sidelines.
With the Niners rolling out Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson as their starting wideouts, the Rams defense will be able to load the box and focus on stopping All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.
McCaffrey has been racking up yards as an outlet receiver but has struggled to find room on the ground. He's averaging just 3.3 yards per carry and has rushed for 55 yards or less in his last three games.
CMC should get plenty of work in the passing game but will have a hard time running the ball against a Rams defense that sits in the Top-10 in rush success rate and yards allowed per carry (3.9).
Blake Corum Over 27.5 rushing yards (-110)
Blake Corum was held to 21 yards on nine carries with two receptions for minus-5 yards on Sunday. While he had an ugly game, Corum's usage shows that the Rams intend to keep giving him touches to keep Kyren Williams fresh.
Corum tallied five attempts for 44 yards in Week 2 before rushing for 53 yards on eight carries in Week 3. The sophomore RB was a first-team All-American at Michigan, and I expect him to bounce back with a more efficient performance on Thursday.
The 49ers are 18th in the NFL in defensive rush success rate and will be even worse after losing All-Pro end Nick Bosa to a season-ending injury. San Francisco struggled to contain the run without Bosa last week, allowing 144 yards on 25 designed runs.
