Right about now, no team wants to be San Jose State.

The Spartans will face a Texas squad Saturday that was all sorts of bottled up in an opening week loss to Ohio State.

They’ll be looking to take out some frustration – a big reason they’re a monster 36.5-point home favorite in the College Football odds.

Check below for our San Jose State vs. Texas predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 6.

San Jose State vs Texas prediction

San Jose State vs Texas best bet: Texas -36.5 (-118 at FanDuel)

San Jose State was a 14-point favorite in their opener and were shut down by the Central Michigan Chippewas 16-14.

Now, they’re facing a team that was literally the No. 1 team last week, and whose only losses over the last year have been to Ohio State and Georgia (twice each).

Texas throttled the lightweight part of their schedule last year, hammering Colorado State, UTSA and UL Monroe. They allowed 10 total points to those teams and scored at least 51 in each.

An ugly blowout is on the horizon.

San Jose State vs Texas same-game parlay

It definitely wasn’t the start Arch Manning wanted as the No. 1 guy for the top-ranked team in college football, but he should bounce back.

Remember those early blowouts in 2024? He threw four TD passes in the rout of USTA, and can match his career high against San Jose State.

Quintrevion Wisner was the leading rusher against the Buckeyes, carrying 16 times for 80 yards. I think Texas keeps him well fed against San Jose State allowing him to carry the Over with ease.

San Jose State vs. Texas same-game parlay

  • Texas -36.5
  • Arch Manning Over 2.5 passing touchdowns
  • Quintrevion Wisner Over 71.5 Rushing Yards

Our deep-ball SGP: Longhorns on the Ups, Spartans Down

CJ Baxter missed all of 2024 with a knee injury and was decent against Ohio State with 40 yards on 10 carries. He should be one of many Longhorns who find paydirt Saturday.

It was a big passing day for SJSU pivot Walker Eget, throwing for 308 yards and two TDs against Central Michigan, but the regression is coming.

Texas was the SEC’s best pass defense, allowing just 173.8 yards per game and just 9.5 yards per completion.

San Jose State vs. Texas same-game parlay

  • Texas -36.5
  • Arch Manning Over 2.5 passing touchdowns
  • Quintrevion Wisner Over 71.5 Rushing Yards
  • CJ Baxter to score a TD
  • Walker Eget Under 155.5 Passing Yards
