With Ducks running back Jordan Davison sidelined, freshman Dierre Hill Jr.’s big-play ability takes on added importance in Atlanta.

Only four offensive touchdowns were scored when the Indiana Hoosiers beat the Oregon Ducks in mid-October, and three of those came from players priced at +115 or shorter in the anytime touchdown market for Friday's Peach Bowl.

My Oregon vs. Indiana anytime touchdown picks search for a bit higher payout, partly because injuries have created opportunities for such rewards.

Oregon anytime touchdown pick

Dierre Hill Jr. (+175 at FanDuel)

Jordan Davison will miss the Peach Bowl after breaking his clavicle in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Oregon's best running back leads the Ducks in touchdowns with 15, and he has been their leading rusher in both Playoff wins.

Oregon should turn to veteran Noah Whittington as much as freshman Dierre Hill Jr., but it is the latter who represents more versatile possibilities. Hill is used a bit more in the passing game, has a greater big-play likelihood, and has been called upon more often as the season has progressed.

Hill has averaged 6.8 carries per game in the last five games, compared to 4.3 in the Ducks’ first six games against Power Four competition. Without Davison, Hill should see a career high in work on Friday night, perhaps as many as 15 carries.

That kind of workload highlights the value in this market at +175.

Indiana anytime touchdown pick

Omar Cooper Jr. (+145 at FanDuel)

Anyone watching Indiana has noticed Elijah Sarrat is not 100%. He tweaked a hamstring in early November, missed effectively three games, and hasn’t looked like a game-breaker since returning. Of course, a diminished Sarrat has still caught 10 passes for 118 yards and three touchdowns in the last three games.

Less Sarrat has meant more Omar Cooper Jr.

Before Sarrat’s injury, Cooper posted 4.1 catches per game against FBS competition for 53.7 yards and three touchdowns. Since Sarrat’s hamstring issue, he’s recorded 3.7 catches per game for 44.3 yards, but has caught five touchdowns in six games.

Furthermore, remove a catchless performance against the best passing defense in the country, the slog of a Big Ten title game against Ohio State, and then Cooper’s numbers jump to 4.4 catches per game for 53.2 yards and five touchdowns in five games.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
