There’s a lot of hype surrounding the Nebraska Cornhuskers heading into Year 3 of the Matt Rhule era. And living up to that hype means a win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in a Week 1 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
That said, my best Nebraska vs. Cincinnati SGP likes an experienced Bearcats team to keep this one closer than some might expect. Check it out as I break down my college football picks for this Big 12-Big Ten showdown.
Our best Nebraska vs Cincinnati SGP for Week 1
Dylan Raiola will get most of the QB love heading into this matchup, but my Nebraska vs. Cincinnati predictions believe Brendan Sorsby shouldn’t be overlooked.
He is one of the more underrated QBs in the Big 12. He threw for 2,813 yards with 18 touchdowns while adding another 447 yards and nine scores on the ground. Expect him to lean on future NFL tight end Joe Royer also returns to give Sorsby a reliable playmaker.
They’ll be attacking a Cornhuskers team that has a new defensive coordinator, has to replace two stud defensive tackles, and has four new starters in the secondary.
And while Nebraska is more talented, Cincinnati has more experience playing together. That edge will not only allow Sorby to go Over 215.5 passing yards, but also keep this game within the number.
On top of that, the Bearcats did a solid job of replacing top running back Corey Kiner, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season, by bringing in senior RB Tawee Walker. The 24-year-old has rushed for 1,377 yards and 17 TDs over his last two seasons at Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
Cincinnati wants to run the ball, and Walker finding the end zone looks like a great way to round out this SGP.
