In what amounts to one of the most intriguing matchups of the week, the Mississippi Rebels will face off against the Georgia Bulldogs.
This game will no doubt have significant SEC Championship and College Football Playoff implications, with the Rebels entering undefeated and the Bulldogs with just one loss.

Mississippi vs Georgia predictions
Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Mississippi vs Georgia spread pick: Mississippi +6.5
Georgia is getting a bit too much respect for a team that hasn’t truly impressed this season. The Bulldogs deserve credit for rallying to beat Tennessee in overtime, but the full picture of that game tells a different story. They surrendered over 35 points in regulation and were outplayed in several key areas. Tennessee own an offensive success rate in the 95th percentile nationally and still finished with an 83% postgame win expectancy despite the loss.
Last week against Auburn didn’t exactly ease those concerns. Georgia won, however, the underlying numbers again underwhelmed, including a modest 53% win expectancy. That’s not what you expect from a team laying nearly a touchdown in conference play.
Enter Mississippi, a more balanced and efficient team than either Tennessee or Auburn. The Rebels bring a diverse offensive attack and enough defensive structure to exploit Georgia’s current inconsistencies. To put it another way, they seem strongly built to hang inside this number.
At +6.5, the value is already clear, but market movement suggests this could touch the key number of 7. I’m willing to wait it out and see if that happens.
Early Mississippi vs Georgia total pick: Over 54.5
I’m roughly in line with the market on this total and don’t have a strong conviction either way, though it’s worth noting that opinions vary, with some books shading away from the 54.5 consensus.
My lean is toward the Over, largely because Mississippi can dictate both tempo and game script. If the Rebels jump out early, as their offensive efficiency suggests they can, this game likely takes on a faster pace.
We already know Lane Kiffin’s offense operates at one of the quickest tempos in the country, and Georgia would be forced to speed things up while playing from behind.
There are also clear scoring paths for both sides. Mississippi ranks 19th nationally in offensive success rate and is particularly well-equipped to exploit Georgia’s secondary, which sits 88th in EPA allowed per dropback.
On the other side, Georgia’s ground game with Chauncey Bowens, Nate Frazier, and Gunnar Stockton matches up favorably against a Rebels rush defense that remains the weakest unit on the field.
With two offenses holding defined advantages and the potential for an elevated tempo, I lean to the Over.
