We used to be a proper country with morals and standards.

Just in 2023, the Nittany Lions opened the season 4-0 ATS in games with spreads of at least three scores. In two of those, Penn State covered massive spreads with scores in the final three minutes. Franklin was determined to make his boosters some money.
But last year, the Nittany Lions went just 1-3 in such early-season moments, instead building momentum toward what they believed could be a national championship run. Even the one ATS win came against Kent State, an honor that was not an honor in 2024.
That carried forward into last week, as Penn State was not worried about covering a 42.5-point spread against Nevada. Franklin would have once focused his defense to bow up in the final minute, leading 46-3 as the Wolfpack drove.
But no longer. He is worried about bigger things heading into Saturday's matchup against Florida International.

Penn State flexed an efficient passing game in its season-opening 46-11 win against Nevada, but it did not show much else through the air.
The Nittany Lions were content to march down the field with modest completions and then hand off to their star running backs for three touchdowns inside the 15-yard line, including two 1-yard scores from Nicholas Singleton.
